Chad Michael Murray, a former co-star on One Tree Hill, remembered him as a truly inspiring figure who encouraged others to grow. Murray highlighted James’ positive influence, a feeling shared by Dancing with the Stars professional Emma Slater, who was thankful she had the opportunity to say goodbye.

It’s just heartbreaking to hear about the passing of this incredible actor. Krysten Ritter perfectly described him as pure magic, and it sounds like that really resonated with everyone who worked with him. Show creator Nahnatchka Khan, and so many others, talked about his amazing humor and how he just made people better simply by being around.

Even younger actors like Noah Beck, who played his son in the Sidelined movies, spoke about him being the best mentor anyone could ask for. But beyond remembering the wonderful person he was on screen, everyone is really rallying around his family right now.

My heart goes out to his wife, Kimberly, and their six kids. Busy Philipps, a friend from way back, is asking fans to donate to a GoFundMe campaign to help them through this tough time. Apparently, his long illness put a huge financial strain on the family. She said he was truly one in a billion, and I think everyone who knew him would agree – his loss will be felt for a long, long time.
