LUXE Stock: Not Just a Pretty Portfolio

So, LuxExperience (LUXE +21.09%) had a Tuesday. A good Tuesday. Like, accidentally-matched-your-socks-and-found-a-parking-space good. The high-end fashion etailer popped over 21% because, apparently, making more money than people expected is still a thing. Who knew?

The Numbers, Briefly (Because We Have Lives)

Second quarter fiscal 2026 saw net sales nearly triple year-over-year to just under 647 million euros (about $770 million). Tripling is good. Losses, however, deepened to 9.1 million euros ($10.8 million). It’s like, you get a raise, then your dry cleaner triples his prices. The per-share loss was 0.05 euros ($0.06). It’s a delicate balance, really.

Analysts were expecting… well, slightly less than 646 million euros on the top line, and a bigger per-share loss of 0.07 euros. So, they were wrong. Which is good for LUXE shareholders, and bad for the analysts’ egos. I’m sensing a memo coming.

The core Mytheresa line is doing pretty well – up nearly 9% to 243 million euros ($289 million) in revenue. That’s a solid performance. Net-a-Porter and Mr Porter, however, saw a 1% slide. And Yoox? Down 7%. It’s like a fashion food chain. Someone’s always getting eaten.

Raising the Bar (Slightly)

Encouraged by all this… not-losing-quite-as-much-money, LuxExperience is now guiding for gross merchandise value (GMV) of 2.5 to 2.7 billion euros ($3 to $3.2 billion) for the year. They bumped up the low end from 2.4 billion. It’s progress, people! And they’re projecting an adjusted EBITDA margin of -1% to 1%, which is an improvement from -2% to 1%. Baby steps toward profitability, I guess. Though, let’s be real, in the luxury world, “profitability” is a relative term.

LuxExperience has a nice collection of brands, and clearly, consumers are responding. But here’s my question: as a high-margin fashion purveyor, why are they still struggling to turn a profit? It’s like owning a diamond mine and constantly being surprised you don’t have enough sparkly things. Someone needs to explain the accounting to me. Preferably with charts. And maybe a mimosa.
