Nicolas Cage Reveals the Film That Helped Him Overcome His Biggest Fear

Nicolas Cage is famous for his diverse and surprising career choices. He’s equally comfortable in dramatic roles, like in Leaving Las Vegas, and action-packed films like Con Air. Whether he’s receiving critical acclaim or starring in a beloved cult film, Cage is known for fully immersing himself in every character. He often pushes his own boundaries to deliver unforgettable performances for audiences.

In the 1989 movie Vampire’s Kiss, Nicolas Cage played a character who gradually went insane and started believing he was a vampire. The original script called for him to suck on a raw egg to show his deteriorating mental state, but Cage thought that wasn’t dramatic enough. He wanted to find an action that would genuinely frighten him to better portray the character’s madness.

Film director Robert Bierman recalled Nicolas Cage once telling him he despised cockroaches above all else, and even jokingly suggested eating one. Bierman thought it was a brilliant idea and asked his crew to find some large insects for the scene. Cage later shared that he wanted to truly shock the audience, creating a lasting impression and making the film memorable.

The actor is experiencing a major career comeback thanks to the popular horror film, Longlegs. He’s now getting ready for a particularly interesting role: a live-action series called Spider-Noir, coming to Prime Video later this year. He’ll play a down-on-his-luck private investigator, who is also a superhero, in 1930s New York.

Nicolas Cage has been working on more than just detective roles. He recently finished filming ‘Madden,’ a biopic where he dramatically changed his appearance to portray football legend John Madden. Directed by David O. Russell, the movie is predicted to be a strong awards season contender.

Nicolas Cage is coming back to his iconic role in a sequel to the 2005 film Lord of War. He’ll once again play arms dealer Yuri Orlov, this time alongside Bill Skarsgård, who will play his estranged son. Balancing serious dramatic roles with big action movies, Cage continues to be one of Hollywood’s busiest and most dedicated actors.
