Sam Raimi Says He’d Love to Direct SPIDER-MAN 4 With Tobey Magiure

Sam Raimi, who directed the original Spider-Man films, came back to the world of Marvel superheroes with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in 2022. Ever since, fans have been hoping he’ll make Spider-Man 4 with Tobey Maguire reprising his role as Peter Parker. Raimi has been unsure if he wants to direct another Spider-Man movie. However, Spider-Man: No Way Home showed us that Tobey Maguire’s version of Peter Parker still exists somewhere in the multiverse, leaving the possibility open. Recently, in an interview with the Associated Press (reported by Deadline), Raimi hinted that a return could be possible. Here’s what he said:

I think audiences would enjoy seeing me revisit Spider-Man. Marvel is doing really well with their current Spider-Man, integrating him into the Avengers and their wider superhero universe. I don’t want to disrupt that success just to make another one of my Spider-Man films, but I’d definitely be interested in doing it someday if the opportunity arose.

Look, I’d love to see Sam Raimi direct another Spider-Man movie, but I don’t think it’s happening anytime soon. Not while Tom Holland is still playing Spider-Man, and that’s going to be a few years at least. And honestly, I think the ideas Raimi had for a fourth movie way back when are probably outdated now. That whole storyline with John Malkovich as the Vulture? Yeah, I think that chance has passed.

Look, I’m a big fan of Peter Parker and MJ, and I absolutely love the idea of them having a family. Seeing them as parents to Mayday Parker, who’s basically Spider-Girl, feels right. And honestly, with rumors swirling around Avengers: Secret Wars, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get some teases about their future as a superhero family. We’ll just have to wait and see if Marvel decides to go there, but I’m hoping they do!
