Netflix is adding a lot of new movies and shows this week, including documentaries, biopics, and thrillers. Throughout the first week of February, subscribers will find everything from stories about space exploration to funny new comedies. The new releases include both previously available titles and brand new Netflix originals, offering something for everyone – from intense dramas to light and entertaining options.
‘Apollo 11’ (2019)

This new documentary tells the story of the 1969 Apollo 11 mission, following astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins as they journeyed to the moon. The film uses newly discovered 70mm footage and avoids traditional narration or interviews, offering viewers a truly immersive experience of the incredible technology and dedication that made the historic moon landing possible. It will be available to stream on Netflix starting this Monday, February 2nd.
‘Honey Don’t!’ (2025)

This darkly funny movie, directed by Ethan Coen, centers on a private investigator who gets caught up in a strange case involving a cult leader and a baker. It’s a suspenseful story with plenty of humor, as the characters face a series of bizarre and risky challenges. Starring Margaret Qualley and Chris Evans, this visually striking film will be available to stream on February 3rd.
‘LBJ’ (2017)

I just finished watching this movie, and wow! Woody Harrelson is incredible as Lyndon B. Johnson. It really takes you inside what happened after JFK’s assassination, showing how LBJ stepped into the presidency and fought to get the Civil Rights Act passed. It’s a really powerful look at all the pressure he and his team were under during such a chaotic time in American history. If you’re a history buff, or just want a compelling drama, you can check it out starting this Thursday, February 5th!
‘Overboard’ (2018)

This lighthearted comedy is a modern take on a classic 1987 film, and stars Anna Faris and Eugenio Derbez. The story centers around a determined mother who pretends a rich man with amnesia is her husband, hoping to get back at him for how he treated her before. Along the way, she shows him the importance of working hard and cherishing family. You can start watching it on the streaming service this Friday, February 6th.
‘Yoh! Bestie’ (2026)

This compelling drama explores the complexities of long-term friendships and what happens when hidden truths come to light. The story centers around a tight-knit group of friends who are forced to deal with past errors to build a better future. It highlights the power of friendship and the importance of being honest with each other to keep those bonds strong. You can start watching it on Netflix on Friday, February 6th.
‘Archive’ (2020)

This sci-fi movie, coming to the platform this Friday, February 6th, takes place in the not-too-distant future. It centers on a scientist who’s secretly trying to bring back his late wife by uploading her consciousness into a robot. The film explores the difficult questions raised by technology that could extend life, and the powerful emotions surrounding loss and grief.
‘Queen of Chess’ (2026)

I’m so excited about this new movie! It tells the incredible true story of a chess genius who battled prejudice to become one of the best players in the world. It really dives into the dedication and brilliant strategy it takes to excel at chess, but also shows the personal challenges they faced. What I find particularly fascinating is how it explores the role of being a woman in a highly competitive, male-dominated field back in the mid-20th century. It starts streaming on February 6th, and I’ve already marked my calendar!
‘Death Whisperer 3’ (2025)

This scary sequel picks up where the first film left off, following a family terrorized by evil ghosts and their attempts to get rid of them. The story gets even more intense as old curses come back to threaten their lives. The movie relies on classic ghost stories and a creepy atmosphere to create a truly frightening experience. You can start watching this Saturday, February 7th.
