Now, one does occasionally ponder the sheer wizardry involved in getting one’s Amazon parcels delivered with such indecent haste. A dashedly complicated business, logistics, and one that, according to the chaps at Precedence Research, is set to expand at a rate of 8.36% per annum until 2034. A most respectable figure, wouldn’t you agree? However, even the most brilliantly organized system has its little hiccups, its inefficiencies. Driver fatigue, fuel wastage, and the occasional overlooked repair – these are the sort of bothersome details that can give a fellow a headache.
But fear not, for here enters Artificial Intelligence, a sort of digital Jeeves, if you will, capable of sorting out these bothersome details with a speed and efficiency that would make even the most seasoned logistics manager green with envy. It’s a splendid thing, AI, and Samsara (IOT 3.58%), a company that seems to have grasped its potential, has been making rather a name for itself. Though, I must confess, the market has been a bit beastly to it of late, knocking the stock down a good 33% in the last year. A temporary setback, I suspect, for a fundamentally sound concern.
Keeping a Tight Rein on Things
Samsara’s software, while undeniably complex under the hood, is remarkably straightforward in its application. It’s essentially a digital guardian angel for vehicle fleets, ensuring they run smoothly, safely, and with a minimum of fuss. Logistics firms, public service departments, utility companies – all are benefiting from its watchful eye.
Take, for instance, a purveyor of fine foodstuffs. With Samsara on the case, they can rest assured that their delicate perishables remain at the correct temperature throughout their journey. Sysco and United Natural Foods, two establishments with a keen eye for quality, have already embraced its benefits. A sensible move, I’d say.
And for those companies with fleets of vehicles roaming the countryside, Samsara provides a real-time overview of their whereabouts, ensuring both safety and efficiency. AI-powered dash cams, you see, are a most ingenious invention. Even construction companies, with their motley collection of lorries and diggers, can now manage their resources with effortless grace. John Deere, Komatsu, and Ford, those titans of industry, have all integrated Samsara into their systems, a testament to its versatility.
The results, as one might expect, are rather impressive. DHL, a company that knows a thing or two about moving things, saw a 50% reduction in driver turnover. The city of New Orleans, a place not entirely unfamiliar with chaos, experienced an 81% reduction in collision risk. And Estes, a name synonymous with reliable delivery, saved a tidy $3 million in fuel costs. A most gratifying state of affairs.
All of which translates into rather splendid growth figures for Samsara itself. Their latest results, for the third quarter of fiscal 2026 (reported on December 4th, 2025), paint a picture of a company on the upswing. Annual recurring revenue reached $1.75 billion, a 29% increase. Nearly 3,000 customers are now contributing over $100,000 annually, and a respectable 164 are shelling out over $1 million. Not bad, not bad at all.
Net revenue climbed to $416 million, a 20% increase, and net new ARR came in at $105 million, up 24%. Furthermore, they’re sitting on a comfortable cash reserve of $275.1 million, with total debt of just $75.6 million. A prudent approach to finances, wouldn’t you say? New contracts have been secured in New York, Chicago, and even with Cadent, the U.K.’s largest gas distribution network. Operating margins have risen to 19%, and free cash flow margins to 13%.
To my mind, this doesn’t sound like a company that deserves to be lagging behind. The financial story alone is enough to warrant a closer look, let alone the immense potential that lies ahead. A most promising turnabout, indeed, and one that a discerning investor – one with an eye for a solid dividend, naturally – would be well advised to consider.
