As a movie buff, I’ve been checking out what’s popular on Paramount+, and it’s a really interesting mix right now. They’ve got a ton of stuff, from big, new blockbusters and edge-of-your-seat thrillers, to older films that everyone seems to be revisiting. It’s cool to see everything from intense spy stories and futuristic survival games to really touching family dramas all doing well. It just shows how much variety people are looking for when they settle in to stream a movie these days.
‘The Contractor’ (2022)

When his first mission goes wrong, he’s left on his own, pursued by allies turned enemies. ‘The Contractor’ tells the story of his fight for survival as he unravels a dangerous conspiracy and tries to find his way back home.
‘Fighting’ (2009)

Shawn MacArthur, a young man originally from Alabama, relocates to New York City and tries to get by selling fake goods. He falls in with a seasoned con artist who introduces him to the dangerous world of illegal, bare-knuckle fighting. Shawn rapidly becomes a skilled fighter in this underground scene, battling tough opponents for the entertainment of rich gamblers. The story follows his fight to stay true to himself as he’s pulled deeper into a corrupt and violent lifestyle.
‘Sleeping Dogs’ (2024)

Roy Freeman, a retired homicide detective battling Alzheimer’s, is thrown back into a cold case – the murder of a college professor. A possible mistake in the original conviction, combined with new evidence, forces him to investigate. Working with his old partner and struggling with his fading memory, Roy begins to unravel long-hidden secrets. ‘Sleeping Dogs’ is a story about the search for justice and how memory shapes our understanding of the truth, as Roy desperately tries to solve the case before his mind deteriorates.
‘The Running Man’ (1987)

Imagine a future America where the economy has fallen apart and a harsh government rules with an iron fist. To keep people distracted from their miserable lives, the government forces criminals and others to compete in brutal, televised game shows where they’re hunted by trained killers. Ben Richards, a former cop wrongly accused of a crime, finds himself fighting for his life in one of these shows, called ‘The Running Man.’ It’s a desperate battle not just for survival, but against a powerful and corrupt media system that controls everything.
‘Wander’ (2020)

Arthur Bretnik, a troubled private investigator, takes on a suspicious death case in the quiet town of Wander. As he digs deeper, he becomes convinced it’s connected to a larger, shadowy conspiracy. He starts to suspect this group played a role in the tragic loss of his daughter and the breakdown of his family. The story follows Arthur as he battles to determine what’s real and what’s a product of his own troubled mind, all while facing genuine threats.
‘Top Gun: Maverick’ (2022)

After years of service, Pete “Maverick” Mitchell is back at the Navy’s Top Gun school, this time as an instructor. He’s tasked with training a new group of pilots for a dangerous mission. Things get complicated when one of the trainees turns out to be the son of his late friend, forcing Maverick to deal with painful memories. The team will need to master incredibly difficult flying skills to successfully complete their objective: destroying a well-protected enemy facility. ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ explores how modern aerial combat has changed while also showing Maverick’s journey of personal growth.
‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ (2025)

I’m on the edge of my seat watching Ethan Hunt and his team race against time to stop a seriously dangerous AI. It’s a worldwide hunt for two pieces of a key, but everyone – other spy agencies and this really shadowy figure – is after them too. What’s crazy is they have to do all this without any help from the government! ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ is packed with unbelievable stunts and twists, taking them all over the globe. It’s intense!
‘Regretting You’ (2025)

Morgan Grant and her daughter, Clara, don’t have a close relationship, and a family tragedy makes things even harder. Both are dealing with grief, but they start keeping secrets that could ruin what little connection they have left. Morgan tries to hold everything together, while Clara finds comfort in a boyfriend her mother dislikes. ‘Regretting You’ is a story about the complicated relationship between mothers and daughters, and how hard it is to reconnect after something devastating happens.
‘Roofman’ (2025)

Jeffrey Manchester, nicknamed ‘Roofman,’ became well-known for his unusual way of robbing fast-food restaurants. After breaking out of prison, he built a hidden life for himself living in the secret spaces within big box stores. He managed to stay hidden for months, and even started dating someone, all while continuing to commit crimes. The story details his incredible escape from the law and the strange way he lived while on the run.
‘The Running Man’ (2025)

‘The Running Man’ is a contemporary take on a classic story, centering on Ben Richards, a man who joins a dangerous competition to earn money for his family. Set in a future controlled by powerful corporations, the competition involves Richards being hunted across the country by both trained killers and everyday people. He must stay alive for a specific amount of time, all while the world watches as a live spectacle. The story delves into issues of social disparity and questions whether society has become desensitized to violence as a form of entertainment.
