This week, Peacock is adding a bunch of great movies to its collection, including popular dramas, beloved classics, and scary new horror films. There’s something for everyone, from award-winning Westerns and famous animated sequels to thrilling mysteries and inspiring sports stories. Peacock chose these movies because critics and viewers alike have praised them.
‘Terrifier 3’ (2024)

I’m so excited for the new Terrifier movie! It brings back Art the Clown, and this time he’s ruining Christmas. The story follows what happens in Miles County on Christmas Eve as everyone tries to survive his horrific attacks. We get to see Sienna and Jonathan Shaw again, still dealing with everything that happened before, but now they’re facing even more terror. It’s going to be just as gruesome and terrifying as the others, with all the practical effects and gore that Damien Leone is known for – honestly, that’s what I love about these movies!
‘Invincible’ (2006)

This movie, set in the 1970s, is based on the real-life story of Vince Papale, a 30-year-old bartender from Philadelphia. Even though he hadn’t played football in college, Papale tried out for the Philadelphia Eagles, his favorite team. Surprisingly, the head coach, Dick Vermeil, gave him a chance, and Papale had to fight to prove he could compete with professional football players. The film shows the toughness of the city and the determination it takes to make it in the NFL.
‘Shrek 2’ (2004)

Shrek and Princess Fiona return from their honeymoon and are invited to a celebration in the Kingdom of Far Far Away. However, Fiona’s parents, the King and Queen, are shocked by their ogre forms, and not entirely welcoming. Meanwhile, the Fairy Godmother is secretly working to ruin their marriage so her son, Prince Charming, can become king. This animated movie continues the playful and humorous take on traditional fairy tales and introduces the charming new character, Puss in Boots.
‘Downton Abbey’ (2019)

The Crawley family is excited to welcome King George V and Queen Mary to their Yorkshire home, and everyone is busy preparing for the royal visit. This movie continues the story of ‘Downton Abbey’, showing the difficulties and pressures of hosting the King and Queen. While the family deals with proper behavior and personal issues, the servants navigate conflicts with the royals’ own staff. The film portrays life in early 1900s England and how everyone at Downton Abbey tries to maintain their standing in society.
‘Zombieland’ (2009)

Columbus, a college student, survives in a zombie-filled world by sticking to a careful plan. He joins forces with Tallahassee, a hardened survivor with a sweet tooth for Twinkies, and two sisters, Wichita and Little Rock. Together, they travel across the country hoping to find safety at a rumored amusement park in Los Angeles. As they face constant danger from zombies, they must also learn to rely on each other.
‘The Breakfast Club’ (1985)

A diverse group of five high school students – a popular girl, an athlete, a rebel, an academic, and an outcast – find themselves stuck in Saturday detention with a stern assistant principal. As the day progresses, they begin to break down their preconceived notions about each other and realize they have more in common than they thought. The story delves into the challenges of being a teenager, dealing with parental expectations, and navigating the often-strict social environment of high school.
‘Almost Famous’ (2000)

A young music fan gets the chance of a lifetime in the 1970s: to follow the rising rock band Stillwater on tour for a big magazine. He chronicles the band’s struggles and successes, and gets caught up in the exciting, and sometimes chaotic, world of rock and roll. Along the way, he develops close, complicated relationships with both Penny Lane, a captivating fan, and Russell Hammond, the band’s talented guitarist. The story is loosely based on the author’s own experiences and explores themes of rock music history and honest journalism.
‘The Sixth Sense’ (1999)

A child psychologist starts working with a young boy, Cole, who says he can see and communicate with dead people. While trying to help Cole deal with these frightening experiences, the doctor also tries to repair his broken relationship with his wife. The story explores the emotional impact of Cole’s secret and the unsettling nature of the ghosts he encounters. This suspenseful thriller is famous for its eerie atmosphere and a plot that builds to a surprising reveal.
‘Django Unchained’ (2012)

A German bounty hunter teams up with Django, a man who was once a slave, to hunt down a gang of outlaws. The bounty hunter promises to help Django find his wife, who is held captive on a cruel plantation, if Django helps with the hunt. Their quest takes them through the dangerous landscape of the pre-Civil War South, forcing them to rely on both their wits and force to survive. The movie combines classic Western action with a story about seeking justice and revenge.
‘Psycho’ (1960)

After stealing money, a secretary goes into hiding at a secluded motel run by the reserved Norman Bates. When she vanishes, her sister and a private investigator begin searching for her, ultimately revealing a disturbing secret about the Bates family. The film is famous for its groundbreaking camera work and unsettling music, which create a deeply psychological and frightening atmosphere. It’s a hugely influential horror movie, recognized for its unique storytelling and complex characters.
