Unfortunately, Orlando Magic fans, the team has been consistently average for quite some time, and there’s little reason to believe that will change soon. It’s important to note that Tobias Forge and the band Ghost aren’t responsible for this situation.
Just a quick reminder: think critically! Instead of sharing unfounded opinions (especially if you’re joking), use common sense when watching your favorite basketball team. If a band’s religious beliefs could somehow impact the Magic just by playing in the same building, that would change everything we understand about how the world works.
There’s no magic at play with the Orlando Magic – no lucky charms or special rituals are helping them. They simply aren’t a strong team, and it’s unlikely anyone involved cares much about their performance.
Ghost accused of cursing the mediocre Orlando Magic
It all started with a Reddit comment in the Orlando Magic subreddit. A user noticed the team played particularly badly two days after the band Ghost performed at the Kia Center. While the comment may have been intended as a joke, it didn’t land well and sparked a strong reaction from both Magic and Ghost fans.
Someone who works at Kia posted online about a strange experience they had before a recent basketball game. They said the night before their team lost badly to Charlotte, a rock band called Ghost performed at the arena. The poster described the concert as having a very dark, ‘satanic’ atmosphere with imagery of the devil, a church-like setting, and chanting of ‘Lucifer.’ They believe the band’s performance created a negative energy that carried over into the game, explaining their team’s poor performance. They jokingly asked if this was a legitimate excuse or if their team simply played inconsistently.
The Orlando Magic struggle with consistency. As for the band Ghost, taking their imagery literally is a bit strange. Their music is meant to be enjoyable and isn’t about promoting any specific religion. While some of their imagery might be offensive to very religious Christians, that’s intentional – but it’s not about trying to corrupt anyone or encourage devil worship.
Actually, that completely misses the point of what the band is trying to say, and most Ghost fans understand that. Perhaps appreciating their music requires a bit more insight than simply being a fan of the Orlando Magic? It’s not meant as criticism, but it could be a disappointing realization.
It’s possible that Orlando Magic fans aren’t familiar with true excellence. Ghost’s latest album, Skeletá, topped the Billboard charts in 2025, but the Magic have never won an NBA championship. It’s hard to get used to constant losing, something Ghost fans haven’t experienced.
