Ryan Reynolds is publicly supporting his wife, Blake Lively, as a legal dispute with her former co-star, Justin Baldoni, continues. Court documents recently revealed some strongly worded text messages Ryan sent about Baldoni. However, a representative for Ryan told Puck News on January 27th that he was simply defending his wife and being a supportive husband.
The representative explained that Ryan was simply acting to protect his family during a difficult period. “Anyone in his position – a husband supporting his wife and children – would have done the same,” the spokesperson added.
According to sources, Ryan witnessed Blake experiencing inappropriate behavior on her movie set and felt she was unfairly penalized for bringing it to light. He now believes he should have been a stronger advocate for her at the time, and even wishes he had been more upset about what happened.
Leaked messages revealed some surprising names connected to the situation, including Johnny Depp and Taylor Swift. Ryan apparently drew parallels between the current drama and Johnny Depp’s previous legal battles. Texts also showed Blake confiding in Taylor about what was happening. According to a source, Ryan wasn’t often present during filming and primarily communicated his frustrations through emails and texts while working on his film, Deadpool & Wolverine.
Despite facing a legal case expected to go to trial in May 2026, Ryan continues to work steadily on his career. He’s currently involved in several major projects, including an R-rated animated film titled Animal Friends, which boasts a star-studded cast featuring Jason Momoa, Aubrey Plaza, and Dan Levy. That film is set to be released on May 1, 2026. He’s also already starting work on Deadpool 4, building on the success of his previous Marvel film.
In addition to everything else, Ryan is currently filming a Netflix series called Eloise and providing voice work for a movie, The Ghost Billionaire, alongside Kevin Hart and Melissa McCarthy. Despite the ongoing legal issues and media attention, he appears to be dedicated to his work and supporting his wife, as they both anticipate a demanding year.
