Players of Monster Hunter Wilds on PC noticed the game’s central hub area performed better for those who had bought all of the downloadable content, which totaled $500. Capcom has now stated this was a mistake in the game’s code and has released a patch to fix it.

The latest Monster Hunter Wilds update (version 1.040.03.01) addresses a problem reported by players. Capcom confirmed the issue and explained its cause in the patch notes, and they’ve now resolved it.

The recent performance problem was specific to Steam and happened because of a mistake in the game’s code. This code caused extra strain on your computer when the game checked for missing downloadable content. Essentially, the game slowing down in areas like the Base Camp and Grand Hub was due to it constantly checking if you had all the available expansions and items.

We discovered a bug that was causing higher CPU usage around the Support Desk at Base Camp and the Grand Hub. This happened because the game was repeatedly checking for unclaimed items to display a notification. This behavior wasn’t intended, and we’ve fixed it in this update.

The latest update has made the game run much better overall, and Capcom plans to release another patch on February 18th to further improve stability and performance. It’s a positive turn for this realistic cooking simulator.
