‘Tis a curious spectacle, indeed, to observe the market’s sudden affection for Zscaler (ZS +3.34%). The shares have ascended this Tuesday, prompted by the unveiling of new artifices, purportedly designed to ward off the digital brigands of our age. A rise of more than three percent, you say? A trifling sum, perhaps, but indicative of a public easily swayed by promises of security – a most profitable delusion.
The Folly of Unprotected Innovation
It appears our industrious companies rush headlong into the embrace of these “artificial intelligences,” much like Molière’s characters pursuing fleeting pleasures, all without a thought for the consequences. Zscaler’s report reveals a most alarming truth: every single corporate AI system examined harbors serious flaws. One might ask, are these systems intended to protect, or merely to provide a new avenue for mischief?
Worse still, these vulnerabilities are not subtle. Zscaler claims a breach could occur in a mere sixteen minutes. Sixteen minutes! A villain could pilfer fortunes before one has even finished a polite conversation. A most precarious state of affairs, wouldn’t you agree?
Mr. Deepen Desai, a gentleman of Zscaler, proclaims that AI is no longer a mere tool for productivity, but a “primary vector for attacks.” A dramatic pronouncement, to be sure, but one that rings with a certain truth. It seems the age of “agentic AI” has arrived, and with it, the capacity for intrusions to escalate with alarming speed. Traditional defenses, it appears, are as outdated as a powdered wig.
A New Panacea for Old Ills
And so, Zscaler presents its new cybersecurity solutions – a comprehensive system designed to guard against these threats. It offers a grand view of all AI operations, encompassing infrastructure, models, applications, and the like. A most ambitious undertaking, and one that undoubtedly comes at a considerable price.
Mr. Jay Chaudhry, the chief executive, assures us that business leaders crave a “comprehensive solution,” not a collection of fragmented remedies. A shrewd observation, and one that explains, perhaps, the market’s enthusiasm. At Zscaler, he claims, they provide the security necessary for leaders to “move forward with confidence.” One wonders, of course, if this confidence is truly justified, or merely a product of clever marketing. But then, what is the market if not a stage for such illusions?
