Kanye West, now known again as Ye, has publicly apologized for his past antisemitic remarks. He did so through a full-page ad in The Wall Street Journal, using the letter to express remorse to those he hurt and acknowledge his years of controversial behavior.
In a recent letter, Ye admitted he used harmful imagery and acted offensively, and stated he is truly sorry. He also shared that a car accident 25 years ago may have caused brain damage that contributed to his behavior.
He explained that the injury not only impacted his physical health but also his mental well-being, eventually leading to a diagnosis of bipolar type-1. He described feeling disconnected from reality and said that delaying treatment only made things worse, causing him to say and do things he now regrets.
Ye acknowledged his past medical history but emphasized that it doesn’t justify his harmful actions. In an advertisement, he said, “Regardless of my history, what I did was wrong. I am not a Nazi, nor do I hold antisemitic beliefs. I have love and respect for Jewish people.”
He also spoke directly to the Black community, stating they are fundamentally who he is. He apologized for previous comments, specifically a 2018 statement to TMZ where he suggested that 400 years of slavery “sounded like a choice.” He expressed his regret, writing, “I am sorry to have let you down. I love us.”

The apology comes after years of criticism, particularly regarding his 2025 song “Heil Hitler.” That track sampled a speech by Adolf Hitler and contained offensive lyrics, including references to hateful language. After the uproar, Ye replaced the song with a revised, religiously-themed version called “Hallelujah.”
Reports indicate Ye’s full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal represents his most public effort to apologize for past actions. This follows a 2023 meeting where he told Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto he was sorry. In the ad, he asks for people to be patient and understanding while he works to restore his image.
Kanye West is still working on his music. He’s currently finishing his twelfth studio album, titled ‘Bully,’ which is expected to come out on January 30th. Reports indicate the album is a personal project, influenced by his experiences living in Tokyo.
The documentary In Whose Name?, released in late 2025, chronicles the final six years of his life. It includes interviews with notable figures like Elon Musk, Drake, and Pharrell Williams, and delves into both his highly publicized conflicts and private difficulties, such as the breakdown of his marriage.
In his letter to the Wall Street Journal, Ye stated he wasn’t asking for special treatment, but rather hoping to earn back the trust of those who follow him. He finished by asking for support as he tries to move forward and rebuild his life.
