Kat Dennings recently shared a story about a date with Drake on Chelsea Handler’s show, describing it as surprisingly elaborate and feeling more like a carefully planned event than a normal date.
Dennings described the evening as chaotic, explaining that while they were having sushi, a black SUV constantly trailed them, presumably with her security detail. She told Handler that the excessive security presence for what should have been a relaxed dinner was quite unsettling and overwhelming.
This wasn’t the first time the actress had explained her relationship with the Canadian rapper. She previously shared details back in 2013 about how they first met and the online frenzy that happened afterward.
She explained the situation started when she was about 19 and working on a film in Toronto. As she said in a previous interview, “Let’s get this straight for a moment,” the controversy really began after Drake tweeted his support for her.
According to Dennings, Drake publicly complimented her on Twitter, which she didn’t notice at first. She came home to find her social media following had suddenly grown a lot.
I came home to discover I’d suddenly gained around 50,000 new followers,” she explained, “but it wasn’t a happy surprise. Instead, I quickly found myself caught up in a frenzy online, thanks to my overprotective fans.
Kat Dennings soon discovered that a lot of her new followers weren’t fans at all – they were actually upset about her dating the famous musician. She explained that she received harsh messages like, ‘Get lost, Kat Dennings’ and ‘Drake belongs to us, not you.’
Everyone was going crazy online, but honestly, my experience meeting him was really good. It all clicked for me when we actually started chatting – he’s genuinely a super nice guy, just a lovely person. I was so pleasantly surprised!
Although fans still love hearing about her past relationships, Zoey Deutch is now concentrating on her television career. She currently plays Riley Parker in the ABC sitcom Shifting Gears, which first aired in early 2025 and has been picked up for another season.
She stars as a daughter returning home to live with her father, a widower, who is famously played by Tim Allen. The show has quickly become very popular, attracting a huge audience on streaming services like Hulu and Disney+.
Besides her current work on Shifting Gears, Kat Dennings has been in the news because her old show, 2 Broke Girls, has become incredibly popular again on Netflix, even reaching the top ten worldwide. She’s mentioned she’d love to bring the show back, giving fans a proper ending after it was unexpectedly canceled years ago.
In addition to acting in live-action projects, she still voices the popular character Darcy Lewis for Marvel, recently appearing in episodes of the Disney+ animated series What If…?.
