Martha Stewart Opens Up About Her “Only” Surgeon Visit — Says It Doesn’t Count as Plastic Surgery

Martha Stewart is now speaking out about the speculation surrounding whether she’s had plastic surgery. While promoting her new skincare brand, Elm Biosciences, the 84-year-old is sharing her secrets for maintaining youthful-looking skin.

Stewart recently told People magazine that she keeps hearing people claim she’s had plastic surgery, which she strongly denies. “I’m incredibly honest, but it’s frustrating if people don’t believe me,” she said. “I don’t understand why they wouldn’t! It’s the truth.”

Stewart states she’s never had cosmetic surgery like a facelift. However, she did have a plastic surgeon fix injuries she sustained in a serious accident.

Around ten years ago, Stewart suffered an injury from one of her French bulldogs. As she described it, the dog didn’t bite her, but instead forcefully hit her lip against her tooth, causing a deep split that bled profusely onto the dog. The injury was serious enough to force her to miss an appearance on Today, a first for her in a career where she’s never missed a scheduled commitment.

Honestly, after the ambulance ride through that snowstorm, my first request at the hospital was for a plastic surgeon – I wanted things to heal right. But looking back, what they actually did wasn’t exactly cosmetic! I remember getting to the hospital and finding out they’d put in sixteen stitches just in my lip. That wasn’t plastic surgery, it was just fixing a really bad injury. It was a truly awful split lip – I don’t think anyone wanted to look at it! Thankfully, it healed beautifully, and that’s the only work a plastic surgeon ever did on my face, if you can even call it that.

Martha Stewart is kicking off 2026 with a lot on her plate. After completing a month without alcohol, which she shared with TMZ left her feeling fantastic, she’s also launching a new line of home decor this year. The collection will feature classic, antique-inspired pieces and a stylish black-and-gold color scheme.

Martha Stewart is also launching a new restaurant called The Bedford by Martha Stewart on March 14th. Located at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut, it will serve classic comfort food based on recipes from her New York farmhouse, like her famous smashed baked potatoes and herb-roasted chicken.

Martha Stewart’s product lines are doing very well, especially her farmhouse-style furniture, which is in high demand. She also regularly shares glimpses into her farm life, including updates on her Friesian horses, Ulysses and Stewart. With a new restaurant, a skincare line, and her beloved animals to care for, Martha Stewart continues to stay incredibly busy and productive.
