‘Dragon Ball’ Super Set to Return With Focus on the Galactic Patrol

Dragon Ball fans have been waiting a long time, but their wish has finally come true! A new Dragon Ball series is officially in the works, it was announced at the Genkidamatsuri event on January 25th, a celebration of the show’s 40th anniversary.

The latest installment in the Dragon Ball saga, titled Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, will continue the story immediately after the original anime series ended. Akio Iyoku, president of Capsule Corporation Tokyo and the series’ executive producer, announced this at the start of an event. Though production has begun, a release date for the new episodes hasn’t been announced yet.

While the next installment is still some time away, fans won’t have to wait long for new content. A remastered version of the original Dragon Ball Super series, titled Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, has been announced. This updated version is set to premiere in fall 2026 and will address some of the animation and pacing concerns from the 2015 release.

Iyoku stated that this new version of the story is designed to feel like a reboot for the series. He described it as an “enhanced edition” that essentially rebuilds the narrative. He also emphasized that the team made a strong effort to stay true to the initial concepts and original drafts created by the late Akira Toriyama.

The announcement of The Galactic Patrol is welcome news for fans who have been waiting since Akira Toriyama’s death in 2024. The anime went on a lengthy break after the Universe Survival arc finished in 2018, while the manga continued the story. This new series will adapt those manga chapters, focusing on the popular Moro arc and its frightening villain.

The next part of the story teams up Goku and Vegeta with the Galactic Patrol, a team of intergalactic peacekeepers. Their mission is to find Planet-Eater Moro, a powerful, ancient wizard who has returned and is now draining the energy from planets. A preview image revealed at the event showed Goku and Vegeta standing before the Galactic Patrol’s emblem.

Dragon Ball isn’t just a show anymore; it’s become a cherished part of life for fans worldwide. The exciting continuation of the story shows that Goku’s spirit of adventure is alive and well. Plus, with a beautifully updated version arriving this fall and a brand new sequel on the way, the future of Dragon Ball looks incredibly promising.

Akio Iyoku is a key leader behind the popular franchise today. He recently transferred the series’ rights to his company, Capsule Corporation Tokyo, to help expand its presence worldwide. He was joined on stage by Masako Nozawa, the iconic voice of Goku, who has voiced the character since the show began in 1986. The 89-year-old Nozawa has been with the series from the very start.

As a huge anime fan, I was thrilled to hear about everything revealed at Genkidamatsuri! Besides all the anime announcements, they dropped a bomb – a new Dragon Ball game called Dragon Ball: Age 1000! It’s coming out in 2027, and get this – it features an entirely original character designed by Akira Toriyama himself before he sadly passed away. And that’s not all! They also showed off some upcoming DLC for Sparking! ZERO, which will add King Piccolo and Super Android 17 to the roster. Seriously, it’s a great time to be a Dragon Ball fan!

The new Dragon Ball Super: Beerus series is set to launch in Fall 2026, connecting the events of the recently concluded Dragon Ball Daima with the beginning of the Super saga. Sources suggest this updated series will lead directly into the Moro arc, expected in 2027. Fans are excited to know that the Dragon Ball adventures will continue!
