Idris Elba’s Returning Series Is on Top of Apple TV+’s Top 10 Most-Watched Series of the Week List Again

I’m really impressed with what Apple TV+ is becoming – it’s quickly become known for quality shows. Looking at the numbers this week, it’s clear people are loving both the established hits and the new series they’re putting out. They’ve got everything from gripping spy thrillers to really original takes on the post-apocalyptic genre. What I appreciate most is that the shows are character-driven and keep you on the edge of your seat. It’s clear subscribers are looking for well-made shows with stories that stand out, and Apple TV+ is definitely delivering!

‘Slow Horses’ (2022–)

Jackson Lamb heads up Slough House, a dumping ground for British intelligence agents who’ve messed up badly enough to ruin their careers. This team of misfits often stumbles into dangerous and complex conspiracies that put the UK at risk. Though considered failures, they use their individual talents to unravel secrets in the shadowy world of espionage. The series, ‘Slow Horses,’ is adapted from the acclaimed ‘Slough House’ novels by Mick Herron.

‘Severance’ (2022–)

Mark Scout manages a team at Lumon Industries where employees have a unique operation: their memories are split between work and their personal lives. This attempt to separate work and life is disrupted when a new coworker shows up outside of work, forcing the team to question everything. As they investigate, they begin to uncover the truth about their jobs and the company itself. ‘Severance’ is a thought-provoking series that examines corporate power and what makes us who we are, all set in a cold, unsettling world.

‘Palm Royale’ (2024–)

‘Palm Royale’ takes place in 1969 and follows Maxine Simmons as she tries to infiltrate the wealthy and exclusive world of Palm Beach high society. The story highlights her determined climb to join the upper class during a time of significant change. As Maxine navigates this glamorous but cutthroat environment, she uncovers the hidden truths beneath the polished surface. With a talented cast, the series explores how far people will go to feel accepted.

‘Drops of God’ (2023)

This series, created by Quoc Dang Tran, follows Camille Leger as she battles for her inheritance – a massive estate and valuable wine collection. She must compete against Issei Tomine, her father’s top protégé, in challenging taste tests. The story, based on the manga by Tadashi Agi and Shu Okimoto, unfolds across France and Japan, and Camille also deals with difficult consequences from a childhood trauma.

‘The Morning Show’ (2019–)

This series offers a behind-the-scenes look at the people who make America’s morning news shows happen. It dives into the competitive world of morning television, showing how power works within a large network. The characters face challenges in both their personal lives and careers as they cover important world events and changing social trends. ‘The Morning Show’ tackles relevant topics like workplace dynamics, ethical journalism, and the drive for influence.

‘Shrinking’ (2023–)

‘Shrinking’ tells the story of Jimmy, a therapist who starts being unusually honest with his patients after a personal loss. He throws out the usual rules of therapy, telling people what he really thinks, which surprisingly helps them – and forces him to confront his own issues too. The show is both funny and emotionally moving, exploring what it means to connect with others and deal with mental health challenges, all while Jimmy tries to navigate life as a dad and a friend.

‘Ted Lasso’ (2020–2023)

Ted Lasso is a heartwarming comedy about an American football coach who unexpectedly takes charge of a British soccer team, even though he knows nothing about the sport. He wins over the team and its fans with his positive attitude and down-to-earth personality. Over three seasons, the show explores themes of leadership, mental wellbeing, and the power of teamwork, while also charting the personal journeys of a memorable group of characters.

‘Pluribus’ (2025–)

‘Pluribus’ is a science fiction series created by Vince Gilligan. It’s set in a post-apocalyptic Albuquerque and centers on Carol Sturka, a novelist trying to survive after an alien virus turns most of humanity into a single, peaceful collective. This collective wants to absorb anyone who is still immune, like Sturka, who must stay hidden to protect her individuality. The series examines the struggle between being an independent person and the tempting idea of joining a harmonious, conflict-free society.

‘Tehran’ (2020–)

‘Tehran’ is a thrilling spy series about Tamar Rabinyan, a Mossad agent who goes undercover in Tehran with the dangerous mission of sabotaging Iran’s nuclear program. When the operation goes wrong, she’s left stranded in a hostile city and must fight for survival. The show offers a gripping look at the complex political situation in the Middle East, as Tamar navigates a new culture and faces constant challenges to her loyalty and safety.

‘Hijack’ (2023–)

‘Hijack’ follows Sam Nelson, a corporate negotiator, as he tries to use his expertise to rescue passengers and crew on a flight to London that’s been taken over by hijackers. The story happens in real-time during the seven-hour flight, steadily increasing the suspense. While Sam is negotiating with the hijackers mid-air, those on the ground are working urgently to understand the situation and find a solution. The series explores how people react under intense stress and the complex methods used to manage a crisis.
