Margot Robbie shared a charming story about working with Jacob Elordi, explaining how he playfully acted like the character Heathcliff and made a romantic gesture on set.
In a recent interview for Vogue Australia published on January 20th, the two actors spoke with each other about their experience filming Emerald Fennell’s new version of Wuthering Heights.
Robbie remembered being really touched by something Jacob Elordi did on Valentine’s Day in 2025. During an interview, she told him how he’d ‘made her day’ by filling her room with roses, which she thought was incredibly sweet. She explained it wasn’t just a typical flower delivery; the arrangement had a dark, gothic feel that fit the mood of the Barbie movie perfectly.
Robbie recalled thinking on Valentine’s Day that her date was likely a good boyfriend, because he seemed very considerate.
She was really impressed by how much effort Elordi put into the surprise, especially the personal touches. “It wasn’t just the roses themselves, but the message written as if it were from Heathcliff, and that little tombstone he made,” she said. “I thought, ‘Wow, he’s crafty!’ It was thoughtful, creative, and really over-the-top in a good way.”
Even though Elordi clearly put a lot of effort into making the day special, Robbie felt like she hadn’t done much in return. When she asked what she’d done for him, Elordi jokingly pointed out the imbalance. “I don’t think you did anything,” he teased, and a flustered Robbie quickly responded, “I must have done something!”

Elordi playfully claimed his success in the Valentine’s Day gift exchange was intentional, a way to one-up his co-star. “I think when I did it, I felt like I beat you,” he said with a laugh. Robbie good-naturedly agreed, admitting, “You definitely beat me. Yours was so epic.”
Everyone’s been talking about the strong connection between the lead actors as they get ready for the February 13th release of Wuthering Heights. Director Emerald Fennell, who previously made Saltburn and Promising Young Woman, has given the classic Emily Brontë story a fresh take, portraying it as a passionate and intense gothic romance. The film features Hong Chau, Alison Oliver, and Shazad Latif, and includes original music by Charli XCX.
Margot Robbie has been actively working on several projects, including an appearance at the 2026 Golden Globes and preparing to lead the jury at the Tropfest short film festival in Sydney. She’s also starring in the new romantic drama, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, which will be released on September 19th, alongside Colin Farrell.
Jacob Elordi is receiving a lot of praise for his acting, recently winning a Critics’ Choice Award for his performance as The Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. He’s also got several exciting projects coming up, including a role in Ridley Scott’s new sci-fi film The Dog Stars, and he’ll be back for the third season of the popular show Euphoria after starring in a new adaptation of Wuthering Heights.
The cast of Wuthering Heights is currently promoting the film, and will be attending the premiere in Paris on February 2nd. Many fans are excited to see how the two leads will celebrate the film’s release around Valentine’s Day, given their close connection and history working together.
