Here Are the Best Movies to Stream this Weekend on Hulu, Including a Hit Comedy

Hulu is adding a lot of new movies and shows, including exciting action films, spooky sequels, and funny comedies. This weekend, you’ll find both movies that recently played in theaters and shows you can only stream on Hulu, covering all sorts of tastes. There’s everything from suspenseful thrillers to feel-good romantic comedies, and the films feature both famous actors and up-and-coming stars from many different eras.

‘Retribution’ (2023)

Okay, so I just watched ‘Retribution’ with Liam Neeson, and let me tell you, it’s a nail-biter. He plays a businessman, Matt Turner, who finds out there’s a bomb under his car seat while he’s driving his kids to school! Then this creepy voice starts giving him orders – if anyone gets out of the car or he doesn’t follow them, the bomb goes off. The whole movie is basically this insane, fast-paced chase through Berlin as he tries to figure out who’s doing this and, more importantly, save his family. Apparently, it’s a remake of a Spanish film from 2015 called ‘El Desconocido’, and it really leans into that feeling of being trapped and totally on edge. It’s super tense!

‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ (2024)

In ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,’ the Spengler family heads back to the famous New York City firehouse and joins forces with the original Ghostbusters, who are now running a secret research lab. Their investigation into an ancient artifact accidentally unleashes a powerful evil called Garraka, threatening to plunge the city into a new Ice Age. The two generations of Ghostbusters – including returning stars Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd alongside Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, and Finn Wolfhard – must work together to save New York and prevent a freezing apocalypse.

‘Safe House’ (2025)

This fast-paced thriller takes place in a dangerous situation where protecting people and staying alive are the main goals. The story follows characters who are stuck inside a secure location that’s been attacked, either from within or from the outside. ‘Safe House’ focuses on the strategies and intense pressure faced by those protecting important people. When the security around them breaks down, they must rely on their skills to survive a series of life-threatening challenges.

‘Code 3’ (2025)

Rainn Wilson and Lil Rel Howery team up in this funny and fast-paced movie, playing paramedics working a particularly tough 24-hour shift. The film follows their crazy day as they deal with all sorts of emergencies, while also battling their own stress and exhaustion. ‘Code 3’ uses dark humor and exciting action to show what it’s really like to be a first responder, and it’s quickly become a popular hit since its release.

‘Red 2’ (2013)

Okay, so ‘Red 2’ brings back Bruce Willis as Frank Moses, a retired spy who’s pulled back into the game – and this time, it’s a globe-trotting race against time to find a stolen portable nuke. What I really enjoyed was seeing the old team – Willis, John Malkovich, and Helen Mirren, all fantastic – back together, relying on their classic skills and wit. The action jumps from Paris to London to Moscow, and honestly, it’s a high-octane thrill ride as they dodge assassins, terrorists, and corrupt officials. If you liked the first ‘Red,’ you’ll definitely get a kick out of this sequel; it’s just pure, fun spy action.

‘Anyone But You’ (2023)

Bea and Ben had an incredible first date, but something went wrong and quickly cooled their passionate connection. They unexpectedly end up together at a wedding in Australia and decide to fake a relationship. As they try to hide their dislike for each other, they have to convince all the wedding guests they’re a couple. ‘Anyone But You’ is a fun, updated version of Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing’.

‘Twinless’ (2025)

I just finished watching this really gripping thriller, and it’s stuck with me. It centers around a guy reeling from the loss of his twin brother, and he starts going to a grief support group. That’s where things get interesting – he connects with someone else who understands his pain, and they form this incredibly intense bond. It’s not just about grief, though; the film really digs into what makes us us, and how shared trauma can mess with your head. James Marsden is fantastic in it, portraying how far someone will go to feel connected to another person.

‘Superbad’ (2007)

Three high school seniors, Seth, Evan, and Fogell, are determined to have one last epic party before they go off to college. Their plan? A huge, alcohol-fueled bash to impress everyone. This leads them on a wild and increasingly chaotic search for alcohol, filled with awkward encounters with the police and the stress of facing life after graduation. ‘Superbad’ is known for its realistic conversations and how genuinely it captures the bonds of teenage friendship.

‘The Ritual Killer’ (2023)

In this gritty crime thriller, a detective nearing retirement joins forces with an anthropology professor to track a serial killer who is performing rituals based on the ancient Mokele-mbembe legend. Their investigation uncovers a horrifying truth: the killer is collecting body parts for someone seeking supernatural abilities. Detective Boyd, played by Morgan Freeman alongside Cole Hauser, must decipher the killer’s disturbing methods in ‘The Ritual Killer’ before more lives are lost. The film combines classic police work with intriguing cultural folklore.

‘Bad Moms’ (2016)

Amy Mitchell appears to have it all together, but she’s secretly overwhelmed and completely burned out. She teams up with two other equally stressed moms to escape their busy lives and rediscover some joy. Their newfound freedom leads to hilarious clashes with the overly-controlling PTA president and her clique. ‘Bad Moms’ playfully examines the challenges of being a modern mom in a way that many viewers can relate to.
