‘Apocalypto’ Actor Taken Into Custody Following Felony Drug Arrest

Rudy Youngblood, known for his leading role in Mel Gibson’s film Apocalypto, was arrested in Texas on Thursday. He was stopped by police in Henderson County for speeding, and a check of his records revealed an outstanding felony warrant from Bell County.

Following a forensic investigation of an incident last October at a boat ramp, a warrant was issued. When officers initially contacted Youngblood, they were already holding a warrant for his arrest related to a reported domestic assault. A search then revealed a bag containing what appeared to be drugs, along with a scale, a glass pipe, and a straw.

After Youngblood was released following an incident in October, the substance he was suspected of possessing was sent for lab testing. Results recently confirmed it was methamphetamine, and a felony drug charge was officially filed on Wednesday – the day before his most recent traffic stop.

According to Brownsboro Police Chief Scott Myntti, the actor fully cooperated with officers during the traffic stop and was taken to the Henderson County jail without any issues. He’s now been charged with possessing a controlled substance – between one and four grams. If found guilty, he could face up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

The actor is facing new legal issues, adding to a pattern of past arrests. He was previously arrested in Miami in 2017 for public intoxication, although those charges were dropped. As of Friday morning, he is still being held in jail in Henderson County, in addition to facing assault allegations from late 2025.

I remember being completely blown away by Rudy Youngblood when I first saw Apocalypto back in 2006. He played Jaguar Paw, and honestly, it was a performance that stuck with me – so raw and powerful. He’s Comanche and Yaqui, and it felt like that heritage really shone through. Since then, he’s kept working steadily, mostly in smaller, independent projects, which is great because he often brings important indigenous stories to life on screen. It’s really cool to see him consistently involved in that kind of work.

I’ve been so glad to see Christopher Youngblood still working! He’s always been great in horror and dramatic roles, and I really enjoyed seeing him in Dandelion Season a couple of years ago. His latest film, The Haunting of Hell Hole Mine, looks really good too. It’s awesome that he’s kept acting, even with everything he’s been through, and it’s clear he still has a lot of fans who remember and love his earlier work.

Rudy Youngblood has experienced both great success and personal struggles throughout his career. Though he’s still well-known for his role in the movie Apocalypto, his ongoing legal troubles have often drawn more attention than his work as an actor. Many of his fans are hoping he can overcome his challenges and return to prominence.
