On December 31, 2025, violinist Brian King Joseph filed a lawsuit against Will and Treyball Studios Management. The suit alleges serious misconduct, including s harassment, unfair dismissal, and retaliation.

Brian King Joseph is accusing the Academy Award-winning actor of harmful and manipulative behavior during their time working together. The lawsuit claims Will Smith intentionally created a situation where Joseph was vulnerable to further abuse while they worked on the “Based on a True Story: 2025 Tour” this past spring.

Legal records show Will and Joseph began working together in November 2024 when Will hired Joseph to play at a show in San Diego. After the performance, Will asked Joseph to join his 2025 tour and contribute to his next album.
