The show opens with a nostalgic look back at the 1980s, featuring old video clips. The narrator remembers a time when life felt easier – when sugary cereal was considered healthy and aerobics were the workout of choice. But most importantly, he highlights the iconic animated hero, He-Man, powerfully swinging his Power Sword.
The story suggests we’re longing for a hero like this one, just as the camera focuses on him grabbing his sword. We briefly see some characters, including Man-At-Arms (played by Idris Elba), and are teased with the promise of a trailer – a really great touch.
Masters of the Universe hits theaters just in time for summer blockbuster season on June 5.
