This week, Netflix is adding a wide range of new shows and movies, including historical dramas, competition series, and sports documentaries. Starting Monday and continuing through the weekend, subscribers can enjoy both new original series and popular titles they already love. The new releases cover a lot of ground, with something for everyone – from wrestling to true crime stories.
‘Sandokan’ (2025)

As a huge fan of classic adventure stories, I’m really excited about ‘Sandokan’ hitting screens this Monday, January 19th! It’s a fresh take on Emilio Salgari’s novels, and Can Yaman is playing the legendary pirate. The series seems to be all about Sandokan’s fight against the British Empire in 19th-century Southeast Asia – think rebellion, romance, and a lot of swashbuckling action! From what I’ve seen, they’ve really gone all out with the sets to make it feel as epic as the original books.
‘Star Search’ (2026)

‘Star Search’ returns on Tuesday, January 20th, bringing back the classic talent show for today’s viewers around the world. Contestants will compete in categories like singing, dancing, and comedy, hoping to reach the grand finale. The new version uses modern voting and online platforms to keep audiences involved all season long. The show’s creators hope to find the next big stars through this challenging competition.
‘WWE: Unreal’ (2025)

Premiering January 20th, ‘WWE: Unreal’ takes viewers behind the scenes of professional wrestling. The documentary series explores how WWE creates its events, looking at both the creative side and the incredible physical challenges faced by performers. Through interviews with key figures and wrestling legends, the show traces the brand’s history and offers a fresh look at the blend of storytelling and athleticism that makes WWE unique.
‘Rizzoli & Isles’ (2010)

Starting Tuesday, January 20th, you can stream the police drama ‘Rizzoli & Isles.’ The show, inspired by Tess Gerritsen’s novels, centers on the lives of Boston detective Jane Rizzoli and medical examiner Maura Isles. They team up to crack tough cases, combining their different strengths and building a close friendship along the way. The series blends thrilling investigations with the heartwarming story of their bond.
‘Finding Her Edge’ (2026)

As a huge cinema fan, I’m really looking forward to ‘Finding Her Edge,’ which premieres on January 22nd. It’s a docuseries that dives into the incredibly competitive world of women’s sports. It follows several athletes, showing us what it takes to succeed at the highest level – the intense training, the pressure, and all the sacrifices they make. What really interests me is that it also explores the challenges women athletes still face today, and how far women’s sports have come. It promises to be a really inspiring look at their strength and determination.
Tell us which of these upcoming Netflix premieres you are most excited to watch in the comments.
