Amanda Seyfried recently recounted a funny story about working with Channing Tatum on the movie Dear John. She shared the memory in a new interview with Deadline, published on January 15th, when asked about her favorite on-set experiences.
Amanda Seyfried and Channing Tatum appeared together in the 2010 romance film adapted from a Nicholas Sparks novel. Despite the movie being quite emotional and dramatic, Seyfried shared that the set was actually very lighthearted. She and Tatum spent a lot of time joking around while they filmed.
Amanda Seyfried said she enjoys discussing the movie because it highlights her fun working relationship with Channing Tatum and the film Dear John. They spent the entire shoot playfully pranking each other and keeping the atmosphere lighthearted. She described Tatum as very funny and recalled a memorable moment where he playfully pranked her by secretly pretending to pee on her leg.
Seyfried shared a funny story about a prank that happened while filming at the beach. She initially didn’t notice what was going on, but then realized why the person was standing so close – they had actually urinated on her leg! She explained, “He peed on my leg on the beach, and I didn’t realize at first, and then I was like, ‘Oh, that’s why he’s standing so close to me.’”
The prank nearly went too far when a colleague accidentally reached for a coffee cup that had been left too close to the makeup artist. Seyfried explained that she quickly intervened, preventing a potentially awkward situation. “I managed to save her,” she said.
Seyfried had mentioned her comfortable connection with Tatum before. In a previous interview with E! News, she explained that they both had a similar, lighthearted approach to work and didn’t let things get too serious. She recalled that their joking around was a good way to offset the intense subject matter of the film, saying, “We don’t take anything too seriously, but we’re shooting a movie that’s very heavy.” She even called Tatum her favorite co-star she’d worked with up to that point.
Amanda Seyfried first gained widespread recognition in the 2000s with popular roles in movies and TV shows like Mean Girls, Veronica Mars, Big Love, and Mamma Mia!. She then starred in romantic films such as Dear John and Letters to Juliet, establishing a career that showcases her talent in drama, comedy, and musicals.
Recently, Seyfried has been enjoying the huge success of the thriller The Housemaid, released in late 2025. She plays Nina Winchester, a wealthy woman whose life is disrupted when a new nanny, played by Sydney Sweeney, arrives. The film, directed by Paul Feig and also starring Brandon Sklenar, has already earned close to $200 million globally.
Those who enjoy the actress’s work can also find her in the historical musical drama, The Testament of Ann Lee, which first came out in late 2025 and is now playing in more cinemas. She stars as Ann Lee, the founder of the Shaker religious movement, with Thomasin McKenzie and Lewis Pullman. Her performance has already been recognized with multiple award nominations, including a recent Best Actress win at the Astra Film Awards.
There’s a lot of talk about a possible Mamma Mia 3, and Amanda Seyfried has said she’d love to be involved. She’s even suggested adding her The Housemaid co-star, Sydney Sweeney, and singer Sabrina Carpenter to the cast. Before that, she’ll be in the new comedy I Don’t Understand You, which is about a couple whose trip to Italy doesn’t go as planned.
