So, I’ve been following the Blake Lively lawsuit against Justin Baldoni, and it’s getting serious. Apparently, Blake has brought on Sigrid McCawley – you might recognize her as the lawyer who’s worked with some of Jeffrey Epstein’s victims – to help manage the public side of things and deal with the media. It sounds like they’re really preparing for trial, and Blake wants to be careful about how this whole thing is presented to the public.
According to Boies Schiller Flexner’s managing partner, McCawley, it’s an honor to collaborate with Blake Lively’s legal team on a case concerning a woman who faced harassment at work and is now being criticized for defending herself and her female colleagues.
Blake Lively, 38, is now being represented by attorney Sigrid McCawley, who will handle all public communication regarding his legal case. Attorneys Mike Gottlieb and Esra Hudson have been managing the case for months, dealing with numerous legal challenges and confidential filings in New York. “We’re very pleased to have Sigrid on board,” said Gottlieb and Hudson. “She has a long history of advocating for those who need it, including her work representing victims of Jeffrey Epstein, and we’re confident she’ll be a valuable asset to the team.”
I’ve been so impressed following Lisa McCawley’s career. She’s done incredible work representing survivors of Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, notably Virginia Giuffre, and really brought Epstein’s horrific abuse network to light. Her efforts led to some important settlements and criminal cases. I also remember she represented the publicist for Blake Lively, Leslie Sloane, when she was countersued, and it was interesting to see that case ultimately dismissed by a judge back in June 2025.
In December 2024, Blake Lively filed a lawsuit against Justin Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios, claiming she experienced s harassment and faced retaliation while working on the movie It Ends With Us. Baldoni denied the allegations and responded with his own lawsuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, alleging defamation and attempted extortion. However, a judge later threw out Baldoni’s countersuit.
The trial, originally scheduled for March, has been postponed to May 2026. A significant hearing will take place on January 22nd, where the judge will consider a request from Baldoni to dismiss parts or all of Lively’s lawsuit before it goes to trial. Lively’s lawyer stated in May 2025 that Lively intends to testify, saying, “She will absolutely be a witness and testify at trial; that’s when a plaintiff’s story needs to be heard.”
Baldoni’s legal defense is now stronger with the addition of Alexandra Shapiro, an attorney who has previously worked with Sean “Diddy” Combs.
