’28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’ Box Office: Bombs With $2.1M Thursday Previews

The 28 Years Later series appears to be over, as more than half of those who watched the original film didn’t see the sequel.

Sony probably made a mistake releasing the film in theaters and should have gone straight to streaming. It will be available for streaming soon.

Box office numbers

Though 28 Years Later earned $5.8 million from previews in June, the new sequel, The Bone Temple, opened this week with only $2.1 million – less than half of its predecessor’s preview total.

Initial box office predictions for Bone Temple‘s opening weekend are approximately $18 million. This is consistent with the typical 50% decrease seen from the first film, which debuted with $30 million in June.

Maybe Covid is to blame?

Reviews don’t matter

Early reviews from professional critics are similar to those of the first film, and currently, Bone Temple has a higher score of 93%. However, audiences seem less enthusiastic about 28 Years Later, giving it a fan score of only 63%.

It’s likely Bone Temple will get a better fan rating, since it appears only people who enjoyed 28 Years Later are currently showing interest in the sequel.

Jeff Sneider strongly criticized The Bone Temple on X, calling it “the worst installment in the series by far.” That’s a harsh review!

Woke bait-and-switch indoctrination

I have zero interest in seeing it myself.

As I went over, 28 Years Later is a woke bait-and-switch indoctrination movie.

The movie begins promisingly, focusing on a father-son relationship, but quickly changes direction. It portrays the father negatively and shifts into a story promoting feminist ideals and the idea that chosen families are better than biological ones. Surprisingly, the new family the child finds turns out to be a group of Satanists. It’s a rather unusual and questionable message to send, don’t you think?

The Bone Temple is also from the same director as The Marvels.Yeah, no thanks.
