In a new promotional clip, Saturday Night Live performer Kam Patterson shows Finn around the studio at 30 Rock. Patterson then leads him to the office of fellow cast member Ben Marshall, where they catch him creating digitally enhanced, muscular images of one of Finn’s Stranger Things co-stars. The scene then shifts to familiar Stranger Things horror tropes: flickering lights, smoke, and eerie sounds, suggesting the return of a monster from the Upside Down—possibly even Vecna. Finn Wolfhard instantly reverts to his Stranger Things character, grabbing a broom as a weapon and declaring, “It’s Vecna. He’s back.”
Despite some initial worries, Vecna is definitely still dead. The strange sounds and smoke everyone noticed actually came from Saturday Night Live cast member Sarah Sherman after she ate some really hot beef cubes! It looks like SNL is still relying on classic physical comedy, even after 50 years. And this Stranger Things promo is just the beginning – we can expect plenty more jokes about the show. We’re guessing they’ll have fun with the fact that the Hawkins kids are now adults, and maybe even make some comments about Steve Harrington’s hair. We wouldn’t be surprised if they joked about Mike Wheeler’s limited role in the final season, either – that would be hilarious!
