Hudson Williams Opens Up About His Workout, Dimples, and Stretch Marks Ahead ‘Heated Rivalry’ of Season 2

Actor Hudson Williams is sharing his workout routine with fans as he prepares for the second season of Heated Rivalry. In a recent “Train Like” video for Men’s Health, the 24-year-old demonstrates how he gets in shape and talks about his fitness goals for the show.

Hudson explained that his workouts are full-body routines. He likes to make sure he’s worked all muscle groups, especially since his gym schedule can vary.

His workout sessions typically last either an hour or 45 minutes. He aims to exercise five times a week, but usually manages three sessions when he’s traveling or has a lot on his plate.

Hudson wanted to get in better shape than some of his co-stars for his role as Shane Hollander. He remembered asking the show’s creator, Jacob Tierney, what kind of body his character should have.

Hudson observed that hockey players don’t typically have bulky muscles, but are more often lean and strong, or appear powerfully built from a different physique. He then asked Jacob what kind of build he should aim for, and Jacob jokingly suggested he should look like someone who eats a lot of pasta.

The actor had some reservations about the show’s direction after seeing his co-stars. He explained, “I wasn’t sure – the other actors looked more like fashion models than believable characters,” he confessed.

Seeing Connor Storrie, my co-lead, really motivated me to switch things up. I immediately decided to cut out carbs and focus on bulking up – I wanted to gain muscle, get fuller, and just generally get bigger, especially in my legs. That was my new goal!

Hudson explained that he adjusts his workouts to fit his hectic filming schedule. When he has a free week, he keeps his gym sessions brief by doing just two sets of each exercise.

If he anticipates only being able to go to the gym once or twice, he pushes himself harder during those workouts. He explained, “I’ll just do three or four sets of pretty much everything.”

The actor playfully compared his body to that of his co-star, who plays Ilya Rozanov. “I’d like to keep what I’ve got and build it up even more,” Hudson joked.

He continued, jokingly referring to Connor Storrie’s physique and saying he admired it. He expressed his desire to build a similar level of muscle as Storrie had during the first season.

Hudson believes his co-star will become significantly more muscular throughout the series. He joked that the actor is likely to focus heavily on protein intake, ultimately achieving an incredibly impressive physique, like that of a Mr. Olympia competitor.

The cast members frequently exercise together, even when they’re tired after a long day of shooting, and enjoy swapping new workout ideas. As Hudson explained, “We hit the gym together, but we don’t always do the same routines. We share what we’ve been working on, and it’s always a good time.”

Hudson recently discussed the attention his back dimples and stretch marks have been getting online. He explained, “I’ve always thought of stretch marks as tiger stripes, and I’ve always admired them on both women and men.”

He shared that a friend he used to work out with would often get stretch marks quickly, even if their weight didn’t change. “I always thought they looked really cool,” Hudson said. “So yeah, I’m happy with my dimples and stretch marks – I like them!”

Hudson Williams is rapidly gaining recognition after starring in the hit series Heated Rivalry, which airs on Crave and Max. The actor, who is Japanese-Canadian and originally from Kamloops, British Columbia, has also been in shows like Allegiance and will appear in the 2025 series Tracker.

I’m so excited to hear they’re making a second season of Heated Rivalry! From what I understand, it’s going to cover The Long Game, which is the sixth book in Rachel Reid’s series. Basically, we’ll get to see even more of Shane and Ilya’s secret relationship and how they’re juggling everything while playing pro hockey. I can’t wait!
