Marvel Brings Spider-Man and Superman Together Again in April

Last year, DC brought Superman and Spider-Man together in a comic after 50 years. Now, Marvel is doing the same thing with Spider-Man/Superman #1, arriving in comic book stores in April. The main story is written by Brad Meltzer (known for Identity Crisis) in his first full Marvel comic, with art by Pepe Larraz, a frequent artist on X-Men. The comic will also include extra short stories. Details and covers are available below.

And here’s Brad Meltzer’s statement about working on this epic crossover:

I’ve dreamed of writing this book for fifty years. The characters Superman and Spider-Man have had a bigger impact on my life than many actual people. They’re always with me, and this story really gets to the heart of what it means to be a good person. I was thrilled that Nick Lowe and Marvel gave me the opportunity. And you won’t believe the amazing artwork – prepare to be amazed! It’s time to embrace your inner hero!

In a new story by Brad Meltzer and Pepe Larraz, Spider-Man and Superman face off against their most dangerous foes: the wealthy villains Lex Luthor and Norman Osborn. These rivals, who share a taste for purple and green, target the heroes’ biggest vulnerabilities in a thrilling showdown.

A unique team-up happens when Spider-Man Noir meets the very first version of Superman, as he appeared in the 1930s. This story is crafted by Dan Slott, a well-known writer for both Superman and Spider-Man, alongside artist Marcos Martin.

Geoff Johns, a celebrated writer known for his work at DC Comics, is writing a Marvel story for the first time in two decades. He’s joined by his longtime artistic partner, Gary Frank. A major conflict erupts when the Super-Family and Spider-Family turn on each other, seemingly manipulated by Mysterio. However, the real enemy might be someone they used to trust who’s now gone rogue – many suspect it’s Superboy Prime.

A massive invasion of alien symbiotes throws Metropolis into chaos, kicking off a new, epic conflict. This story brings together the creative minds behind the popular Thor comics, Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman. Plus, it features a groundbreaking team-up between Jane Foster, as the Mighty Thor, and Wonder Woman!

Louise Simonson, who helped create the Superman character Steel, is joining forces with Todd Nauck, the artist known for his work on Young Justice. Together, they’re creating a story where John Henry Irons, also known as Steel, goes up against Spider-Man’s enemy, the Hobgoblin.

Joe Kelly, the current writer of Amazing Spider-Man, and artist Humberto Ramos have teamed up for a story showing how Gwen Stacy and Lana Lang met, set on a college campus.

Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli, the team behind Spider-Man Miles Morales, have brought together the modern Spider-Man and Superman in a new project.

Marvel/DC Spider-Man/Superman #1 is set to arrive in comic book shops and digitally in April.
