As a huge fan of both One Direction and BTS, it’s been incredible watching both groups dominate the music scene. They’ve both built such dedicated fanbases, it’s amazing! I recently read an interview with Louis Tomlinson where he talked about BTS surpassing some of 1D’s records. He admitted it was a little sad to see those milestones go, but he was genuinely happy for them, saying it’s just how things go in the music industry. It was so mature of him, and honestly, it made me appreciate both groups even more!

Singer Louis Tomlinson reacts to One Direction’s records being broken

Louis Tomlinson has commented on BTS breaking many of One Direction’s records. He admitted he didn’t actively follow it, but would occasionally see news about it. He explained that at the peak of BTS’s rise, it felt like every time he checked Twitter, they were breaking another one of One Direction’s records – whether for speed of sales or something similar – and it happened so frequently that it was noticeable.

He recalled reading about these records six or seven years ago and feeling a little disappointed, saying it felt like a missed opportunity. However, the 34-year-old doesn’t hold any resentment towards the Korean artists involved. He explained that while he doesn’t actively listen to the material, he understands that’s just how the music industry works – it’s constantly evolving and moving forward.

As a longtime fan, it’s amazing to hear him talk about his past! He’s rightfully proud of what he and his team accomplished. He explained that they really stood out in the music industry – very few groups achieved that level of success. He believes they weren’t afraid to be different, to ‘break the mold,’ and that’s what ultimately helped change pop music for the better.

Following the death of Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik reportedly put aside their past disagreements to collaborate on a documentary series. Filming was temporarily halted due to a disagreement, and the production team is expected to release more details soon.
