Matt Prokop, known for his role in High School Musical 3, was arrested in Texas on December 24th. The 35-year-old faces very serious charges, including possession of child p. Jail officials in Victoria County confirmed the arrest to multiple news outlets, including TMZ and PEOPLE.
Prokop is charged with five crimes, including a serious felony for possessing child p. He also faces four lesser charges: breaking a protective order, trying to avoid being arrested, and two counts of resisting a police officer. He is currently in jail and a court date hasn’t been set yet.
The arrest follows years after Sarah Hyland, known for her role on Modern Family, publicly accused her ex-boyfriend of both verbal and physical abuse that she says occurred during their five-year relationship.
According to court records, Hyland says Prokop physically attacked her in May 2014, pushing her into a car and choking her during a fight. Later that year, Julie Bowen, Hyland’s co-star on Modern Family, reportedly helped her leave the relationship after Prokop allegedly threatened both her and her belongings.

The arrest warrant indicates that Prokop’s actions have escalated from previous instances of abuse, leading to both felony and misdemeanor charges. While details of the investigation are still limited, authorities have stated they are proceeding according to all applicable local and federal laws.
