Daniel Stern, famous for playing Marv in the beloved Christmas movie “Home Alone,” is facing legal trouble in California.
TMZ reports that 68-year-old actor Howard Stern received a citation on December 10th in Camarillo for allegedly attempting to solicit a prostitute. He wasn’t arrested, but in California, this offense is a misdemeanor. If convicted, he could face up to six months in jail or a $1,000 fine.
The citation was issued while Stern was already occupied, as he’s recently focused on a personal project related to his famous movie.
In a recent interview with People magazine, published on Christmas Eve, Macaulay Culkin shared that the current owners of the famous “Home Alone” house in Winnetka, Illinois, commissioned him to create a sculpture for their property. Culkin, now living on a ranch in California, has been dedicating more time to his art, focusing on bronze sculptures.
Howard Stern is making a sculpture of himself and the spider from the iconic scene in ‘Home Alone’. In the movie, the character Marv screams when Kevin puts a tarantula on his face. Stern explained that the sculpture, which will be displayed at the ‘Home Alone’ house, will honor the spider – named Charlie – by immortalizing it in bronze.
Stern called the sculpture his first self-portrait, playfully adding that he’d made himself “much better looking than I really am—why not?”
Daniel Stern wasn’t just in the first “Home Alone” movie; he returned for “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York” as Marv. In the sequel, his character and Joe Pesci’s character became known as the “sticky bandits” as they continued their crime spree.
Although Simon Stern has largely retired from the film industry, he remains creatively engaged through his artwork. His pieces have been displayed in public art installations throughout California, including cities like San Diego, Pasadena, and Palm Desert. Currently, he’s an artist-in-residence at Studio Channel Islands Art Centre in Camarillo, and he also takes on private art projects, exhibits in galleries, and participates in art fairs.
Besides being an artist, Stern also runs a ranch and grows both cattle and citrus fruits. He’s been married to actress Laure Mattos since 1980, and they have three children, one of whom is California State Senator Henry Stern. While he once worked in Hollywood, Stern now seems to prioritize his family and artistic pursuits.
Howard Stern was briefly hospitalized in October and taken to a Ventura County hospital, according to a TMZ report, but has since been released and is recovering well. He hasn’t spoken publicly about either this health issue or a recent citation he received for solicitation.
Despite being famous for many years, Stern now spends his time on creative projects, family, and running his ranch, though stories about his exciting past still surface from time to time.
