I’m really excited to hear that Mike White is already working on the next season of “The White Lotus!” Apparently, Variety is reporting that they’re planning to shoot the fourth season at a gorgeous, historic luxury hotel in France. I can’t wait to see what kind of drama unfolds in that setting!
Filming for the series will take place at the Château de La Messardière, a stunning 19th-century palace in Saint-Tropez that’s now a luxury five-star resort on the French Riviera. The resort is owned by Stephane Courbit, who also heads the Banijay Group – the company behind popular shows like “Survivor” and “Peaky Blinders.” HBO hasn’t made any official statements about the filming location yet.
The Château de La Messardière, set on 32 acres of beautiful gardens, provides a luxurious experience with features like a spa, private beach, gourmet dining, and upscale suites. Filming is planned from late April through October, and, as usual, the show won’t be filmed in just one place. The production team, led by White, will use several locations, including a hotel in Paris, to create distinctive settings.

HBO is keeping the details of Season 4 under wraps, but it will once again center around the lives of guests and employees at a hotel over a week-long period. Rumors suggest the season might be set against the backdrop of the Cannes Film Festival, which fits with the show filming in May on the French Riviera. Casting is currently happening, with French actors being considered for several roles. Alexander Ludwig and AJ Michalka are the first new actors confirmed to join the cast, and familiar faces like Jennifer Coolidge, Natasha Rothwell, and Jon Gries will also be returning.
Previous seasons of the show took place in beautiful, faraway resorts – Hawaii, Sicily, and Thailand were the settings for the first three. Season 3 boasted a talented cast including Walton Goggins, Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, Sam Rockwell, and Parker Posey, and received eight Emmy nominations recognizing their performances. Mike White, David Bernad, and Mark Kamine are the show’s executive producers.
“The White Lotus” first aired on HBO in July 2021 as a limited series, but it was later changed to an anthology format. This means each season takes place in a different location and generally features a new group of characters, although some actors have reappeared in multiple seasons.
The show has been highly praised by critics for its strong writing, performances, and engaging stories. It’s received numerous awards, including 16 Primetime Emmys – even winning the award for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series – and two Golden Globes. Jennifer Coolidge has been recognized with several awards for her acting, and Mike White has won Emmys for his work as a writer, director, and producer.
The series follows the lives of guests and staff at a luxury hotel over a week, showing how their relationships create tension and reveal surprising secrets. It mixes humor with insightful observations about society, exploring personal struggles and the hidden reasons behind people’s actions.
Season 4 will deliver more of what fans love – a blend of comedy, heartfelt moments, and mystery – but this time set against the stunning backdrop of the French Riviera. With gorgeous scenery, a talented cast, and Mike White leading the way, the new season is shaping up to be fantastic.
