I just saw a really interesting movie starring Sam Rockwell, and let me tell you, the premise is strikingly relevant to what’s happening in the world today. He plays a guy claiming to be from a messed-up future, and he takes a group of people hostage at a classic LA diner – but not for the reasons you’d think! He’s on a mission to find a team to stop a rogue AI from destroying everything. The cast is fantastic, too – you’ve got Haley Lu Richardson, Michael Peña, Zazie Beetz, Asim Chaudhry, Tom Taylor, and Juno Temple all bringing their A-game. The script is by Matthew Robinson, who you might know from The Invention of Lying and Monster Trucks, so he knows how to blend humor with a compelling story. Definitely one to check out if you’re into sci-fi with a timely message.
The trailer for Gore Verbinski’s new film suggests a style similar to Terry Gilliam’s work, particularly films like Brazil. Fans are excited about this direction. Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die was well-received at Fantastic Fest, with some even drawing comparisons to Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. Many critics are hailing it as a strong return for Verbinski, which is a significant compliment. The film, from Briarcliff Entertainment, will be released in theaters on February 13th.
