Ethan Slater, known for his role in the Broadway hit Wicked, is choosing to keep his son out of the public eye and has no current plans to change that.
I was listening to this podcast, The Downside With Gianmarco Soresi, and the actor – you know, the one who’s dating Ariana Grande, they’re both in Wicked – was talking about how he thinks about being a dad. It was really interesting to hear his perspective.
Slater prefers not to share stories about his son, wanting both him and the public to experience each other naturally, without preconceived notions. He avoids telling anecdotes for this reason.
Although Ryan Slater generally keeps his personal life private, he recently shared a brief update about his son, who he co-parents with his former spouse, Lilly Jay.
He shared that celebrating the holidays, specifically lighting the menorah with his father and discussing their Jewish faith, was a meaningful experience. Despite facing challenges, he found hope and gratitude in those moments.
Slater and Jay officially divorced in September 2024, following their split while working on a popular musical. Jay has shared details about how they plan to raise their children together.
In an essay published in The Cut in December 2024, she explained that even though her relationship with her son’s father had changed, their dedication to their son hadn’t. She emphasized that they both love their son completely, no matter how they share parenting responsibilities. She also noted that spending time with her son brings her joy, while being forced to promote a film connected to a difficult time in her life is painful.
Slater and Jay both prioritize their son’s privacy as they co-parent, despite Slater’s public relationship with Ariana Grande.
