Jimmy Kimmel Slams Trump Over ICE Shooting: “This Maniac”

Jimmy Kimmel spoke out against President Trump after Trump defended an ICE agent who fatally shot Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old American citizen, in Minneapolis on January 7th. Trump used his social media platform, Truth Social, to call the shooting an act of self-defense and accused “the Radical Left” of endangering law enforcement officers.

Trump said he watched the video of the incident in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and called it ‘a horrible thing to watch.’

He stated the woman driving was “very disorderly, obstructing, and resisting,” and labeled her a “professional agitator.” Trump also mentioned the ICE officer who shot her was hospitalized and attributed the incident to the “Radical Left” routinely “threatening, assaulting, and targeting” law enforcement and ICE agents.

During his show on January 7th, Jimmy Kimmel strongly criticized Donald Trump, calling him a “maniac.” He discussed a recent incident, stating that after watching the video, it didn’t appear anyone was actually hit by a vehicle. Instead, he said it looked like a woman became frightened and attempted to drive away, resulting in her being shot – a matter he clarified would be decided by the courts.

Jimmy Kimmel showed a video of Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey strongly denouncing the actions of an ICE agent and criticizing President Trump’s support of the agent. Frey stated, “This was an agent recklessly using power that resulted in someone dying, and I have a message for ICE… Get out of Minneapolis.”

This marks the second time recently that Jimmy Kimmel has publicly disapproved of Donald Trump’s reaction to a tragedy. Previously, after the death of director Rob Reiner, Trump blamed Reiner’s “anger” and what he termed “Trump derangement syndrome.” Kimmel immediately labeled Trump’s comment as “hateful and vile.”

During his monologue, Kimmel stated that what’s needed in times like these is compassion and leadership, along with sensible approaches to gun control and mental healthcare. He criticized the president, saying he offered neither compassion nor leadership, and instead spoke incoherently.
