Disney+ is adding a lot of new movies and shows in January! You’ll find everything from beloved classics and exciting superhero adventures to magical fantasy films and fascinating nature documentaries. Starting January 1st with a big release of older favorites, they’ll be adding new content every week. There’s something for the whole family and plenty to enjoy for movie lovers.
‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’ (1984)

Beginning January 1st on Disney+, this new adventure takes us back to the early days of Indiana Jones. He finds himself in India, where a plane crash leads him, his friend Short Round, and singer Willie Scott to a village in trouble. They uncover a dangerous cult hidden inside Pankot Palace, who have stolen holy stones and are forcing children into slavery. Indy and his companions must face dangerous traps and ancient ceremonies to bring peace back to the area and retrieve the lost treasures.
‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ (2008)

In 1957, during the height of the Cold War, the latest Indiana Jones adventure arrives on streaming January 1st. Indy finds himself caught in a Soviet scheme to find the truth behind ancient crystal skulls hidden in South America. Along with a new companion, a rebellious young man named Mutt Williams, Indy must outrace the determined Agent Irina Spalko to return a skull to the lost city of Akator. Their quest takes them through the dangers of the Amazon jungle, past top-secret nuclear tests, and into a world of strange, otherworldly secrets.
‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’ (1989)

Released in 1989, this adventure film kicks off with Indiana Jones on a thrilling hunt for the Holy Grail. He’s not only trying to find the sacred relic, but also to rescue his kidnapped father, Professor Henry Jones Sr., from the Nazis. Together, the father and son journey through Europe and the Middle East, solving puzzles from an old diary while dodging enemies. Their dangerous quest pushes their skills and their relationship to the limit in a desperate race against time.
‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ (1981)

Starting January 1st, Disney+ subscribers can stream the very first Indiana Jones movie! The film follows archaeologist Indiana Jones as he races against the Nazis to find the legendary Ark of the Covenant. His search takes him to Cairo, where he reconnects with an old love, Marion Ravenwood, and battles dangerous obstacles like snakes and booby traps. This movie is famous for setting the standard for action-adventure films we see today.
‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children’ (2016)

On January 2nd, Tim Burton’s fantastical film arrives on Disney+. It tells the story of Jake, a young boy who finds a hidden home for children with special powers, safely tucked away in a time loop on an island in Wales. As Jake discovers his own abilities, he must work to protect the children and the island from scary monsters called Hollowgasts. The film is a visually striking and atmospheric story about finding yourself and where you belong.
‘Cheetahs Up Close with Bertie Gregory’ (2026)

Premiering January 2nd, this 2026 National Geographic documentary follows explorer Bertie Gregory as he uses cutting-edge camera technology to document the lives of cheetahs in the wild. The film offers a close-up view of how these incredibly fast animals hunt and interact with each other, and highlights the difficulties they face surviving in a changing Africa.
‘The Big Year’ (2011)

This funny new movie, released on January 2nd, centers around three men competing in a high-stakes bird-watching contest. They’re trying to identify the most bird species in North America during one year. As they journey across the country, they deal with personal challenges and fierce competition, pushing their commitment to the limit. The film stars Steve Martin, Jack Black, and Owen Wilson.
‘The Tale of Silyan’ (2025)

I’m really excited for this new animated film! It’s coming to streaming on January 9th, and from what I’ve heard, it’s going to be special. It follows a young girl on this incredible adventure through a beautifully imagined world inspired by folklore – she’s trying to save her people, and along the way, she meets all sorts of magical creatures. It sounds like a really heartwarming story about finding your courage and learning what it means to put others first. Plus, it’s a 2025 release, so it’s using some really cutting-edge animation while still feeling like a classic fairytale.
‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ (2021)

I’m really excited for this new Marvel movie coming out on January 22nd! It’s a sequel where Eddie Brock is trying to get his journalism career back on track, but it’s tough because he’s also dealing with the alien Venom living inside him. Things get crazy when a really dangerous killer named Cletus Kasady bonds with an even more powerful and chaotic alien, called Carnage. It sounds like Eddie and Venom are going to have to work together, even though they argue a lot, to stop Carnage from causing total destruction. I can’t wait to see how it all plays out!
Tell us which of these Disney+ releases you are most excited to watch this month in the comments.
