It premieres on HBO Max January 22nd.

‘The Smashing Machine’ (2025)

I just got a look at the new film directed by Benny Safdie, and it’s a powerful one. It’s a biographical drama focusing on Mark Kerr, a real trailblazer in the world of mixed martial arts. Dwayne Johnson delivers a surprisingly raw and vulnerable performance as Kerr, showing us the intense physical and emotional battles he faced during the 90s – particularly his struggles with addiction and the wear and tear of being a heavyweight champion. It’s a real departure for Johnson, and he absolutely nails the complexity of the role. Keep an eye out for it when it hits theaters on January 23rd.

‘If I Had Legs I’d Kick You’ (2025)

This moving drama tells the story of people in a seaside town who are struggling with setbacks in their lives and careers. It’s a film about dealing with past mistakes, finding strength in tough times, and the need for human connection in today’s world. The movie boasts a talented cast of up-and-coming actors and focuses on developing its characters in a realistic way. It will be available to stream starting January 30th.

‘I’m Chevy Chase and You’re Not’ (2026)

As a huge film buff, I just learned about a new documentary that’s really piqued my interest. It’s a deep dive into the life and career of Chevy Chase, starting with his breakout days on ‘Saturday Night Live’ and following him through his movie successes. What’s fascinating is that it doesn’t shy away from the tougher stuff – it looks at how fame impacted him and the evolution of comedy itself, with some great behind-the-scenes footage. It promises a really honest look at the guy who made so many of us laugh. And if you’re looking for something to watch, it’s coming out January 31st.
