Sydney Sweeney recently told W Magazine about her acting and producing work, including her involvement with the upcoming movie adaptation of the popular novel The Housemaid. She explained that she loved the book from the very beginning, saying she couldn’t put it down once she started reading. When she learned a script was being developed, she actively pursued the project and teamed up with Lionsgate to get it made.
I really enjoy contributing to all aspects of creating a film, not just focusing on my own character. It feels like a huge, complex puzzle that I get to help solve. Plus, I absolutely adore Amanda Seyfried – I feel a real connection with her, and she’s helped me feel more comfortable and authentic.

Sweeney discussed how she prepared to play boxer Christy Martin, noting both a physical and emotional shift. She explained that while she physically embodied the role, she made a conscious effort to leave Martin’s difficult experiences – the fights and traumas – at work. She wanted to separate herself from the character’s emotional baggage when she returned home.
Critics highly commended her performance in Christy. Owen Gleiberman specifically noted that she delivered a remarkably powerful and authentic portrayal, completely embodying the character and creating a connection with the audience.
In addition to discussing her work, Sweeney shared some personal stories, talking about her scars, her fondness for sweets, and her willingness to try new things. She explained that she often embraces challenges, even when they frighten her. “I’m scared of a lot of things, but that doesn’t hold me back,” she said. “If something scares me, I usually end up doing it anyway. I’m afraid of heights, but I went skydiving – I screamed the whole time, but immediately wanted to go again!”
Sweeney shared some news about what she’s working on next. She will star as Kim Novak in a romantic drama called Scandalous, with filming expected to begin in early 2026.
