As a huge Demon Slayer fan, I was so excited to hear that Crunchyroll finally announced when we’ll get the rest of the Infinity Castle saga! It looks like we’ll be seeing Part 2 in 2027, and then the grand finale in 2029. It’s a bit of a wait, but knowing there’s a plan is great!
This news comes after the first film’s global box office success, as reported by The Guardian.
I finally got to see Infinity Castle Part 1! It originally came out in Japan on July 18th, 2025, and thankfully, it didn’t take too long for the rest of the world to catch up – it was released internationally throughout August and September of that year.
According to Mitchel Berger, Crunchyroll’s head of theatrical releases, their fanbase has been steadily growing for the past eight years, and that growth has continued even after the pandemic.
Berger emphasized how important it was for the Demon Slayer franchise to recover after the pandemic. The movie Mugen Train was one of the first big hits in theaters when they reopened, proving that anime films could be very successful at the box office. This was especially significant because many Hollywood studios were still hesitant about releasing movies in theaters instead of streaming them.
The Demon Slayer: Mugen Train movie was a major breakthrough for the series, boosting it from a well-liked manga and anime to a worldwide hit. This success continued with Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle and has even inspired other anime films, like Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc.
Other popular anime series like Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX, Dandadan, and Jujutsu Kaisen have successfully launched big story arcs as movies instead of typical TV seasons. According to Berger, Chainsaw Man might follow suit, with the ‘International Assassins Arc’ possibly premiering as a film instead of a new season.
Fans now have official release dates for Infinity Castle, marking a clear path toward the finale of this beloved anime series. Given the series’ popularity around the world, excitement is expected to grow in the years leading up to its release.
