Many are calling It: Welcome to Derry one of the best shows of 2025, and it’s based on a classic Stephen King novel. Like King’s other work, and similar to shows like Lost, the series keeps some mysteries alive – specifically, the true nature of Pennywise. King, much like J.J. Abrams, enjoys building narratives around big unanswered questions. Recently, Slashfilm reported that King shared recommendations on social media for sci-fi series that echo the feel of Lost. He highlighted From, available on MGM+, and Silo, which you can stream on Apple TV+ – both shows that fans might have missed.
Last year and heading into this year, I only found two shows with that intriguing, puzzle-like quality – shows where you’re constantly trying to figure things out, like LOST – truly worth watching: FROM and SILO. Of course, everyone has different tastes, so you might feel differently.

You might not be familiar with the show From, but it’s steadily building a dedicated fanbase. Starring Harold Perrineau, who you may recognize from Lost, the series is about a mysterious town that no one can leave. The town is surrounded by a dangerous forest filled with creatures that come out at night, and strange events are constantly happening. From originally aired on EPIX and moved to MGM+ for its third season in 2024.
If you’re looking for a gripping sci-fi drama, check out Silo on Apple TV+, starring Rebecca Ferguson (known from Dune). The show, based on a book by Hugh Howey, is set in a massive underground city that extends hundreds of levels deep. The people living there are led to believe their leaders are keeping them safe, but a central mystery unfolds as the story progresses. Two seasons of Silo are currently available to stream, and Stephen King is a big fan! If you’re looking for something strange and suspenseful to watch during your break, both The Outsider and Silo come highly recommended by him.
