Britney Spears posted a Christmas message on Instagram on Sunday, also addressing her family issues. The 44-year-old singer shared a picture of her decorated Christmas tree with her 42 million followers.
Her Christmas message was dripping with sarcasm. She wrote, “Merry late Christmas to my wonderful family, who have always been respectful, kind, and supportive – and have never caused me any pain.”

Britney Spears hasn’t spoken to her family since her legal conservatorship ended in 2021. For 13 years, starting in 2008, her father, Jamie Spears, had control over her life and money. Spears has openly discussed the difficult experience, even stating in 2021 that she believed those involved in the conservatorship should be imprisoned.
In her memoir, The Woman in Me, Britney Spears alleges that her parents controlled and exploited her personal life during her conservatorship, even while continuing to benefit financially from her concerts and performances.
I was really glad to hear that Britney Spears spent Christmas with her son, Jayden, even with everything going on in her family. Apparently, it was a really positive experience for both of them. Someone told People magazine it was a truly special holiday, and that Britney really enjoyed celebrating with him.
Spears’ other son, Sean Preston, spent time with his aunt Jamie Lynn Spears’ family in Louisiana and shared photos from the visit on Instagram.
This year, Kevin Federline, Britney Spears’s father, published his memoir, You Thought You Knew. He shared with Talk Shop Live that Spears had started speaking to their sons again after the book was released. He emphasized that his sons have always loved and will always love their mother, and that he’s always wanted them to have the same close relationship with her that he shares with his own mother.
As a movie lover, I’ve seen plenty of dramatic family stories, but this situation with Britney and Kevin is really heartbreaking. She’s spoken out about his book and feels like he’s twisting things around and manipulating the truth. She’s always wanted a close relationship with her sons, and she’s been really hurt by the distance. She’s said she’s practically begged to be a part of their lives, and it’s just a really tough situation, especially when dealing with teenagers – those relationships are never easy.
She explained that her children have unfortunately seen their father disrespect her for a long time, and now they need to be independent. She feels hurt that one son has only seen her for 45 minutes in the last five years, and the other only four times. She deserves respect too, and from now on, she will only let them know when she’s free to see them.
Spears finished her Instagram post with a touching message for her niece Ivey, saying she simply wanted to hold her. She signed off with a hopeful “Godspeed, friends.”
