Duffer Brothers Hint a New ‘Stranger Things’ Spin-Off Is Already in the Works

Although the popular show Stranger Things is finishing up, its world might not be completely finished. The show’s creators are hinting at a potential new project that would continue the story in the same universe.

In a recent ScreenRant interview, creators Matt and Ross Duffer discussed the upcoming final episodes of Stranger Things season 5 and what might happen after the show concludes. They confirmed that the main series will end with this season, but also suggested they are still considering ideas for spin-off shows.

Matt Duffer says the last episodes of the show will finally answer the biggest questions fans have been asking for years. They’re aiming to fully explain what happened to the characters and uncover the secrets of the Upside Down.

We did our best to address every question about the characters and the mysterious world of Hawkins, especially concerning the Upside Down. We feel like we’ve really wrapped things up and brought everything to a conclusion.

He also confirmed a separate project is in the works, though specifics are still scarce. Matt emphasized this potential spin-off wouldn’t be a continuation of the main storyline. He explained, “The spin-off is connected in some ways, but it’s truly a standalone story, set in a different location with an entirely new cast of characters. It’s completely its own thing.”

The latest season is more intense than ever. Characters like Max and Holly are stuck inside Vecna’s terrifying mindscape, and we’re learning more about the Upside Down and its connection to other dimensions. With Hawkins on the brink of being destroyed, the group is getting ready for a final, desperate battle against Vecna and his plan to combine worlds.

I’ve heard whispers about a Nancy Wheeler spin-off for a while now, but what Matt Duffer said really surprised me. It sounds like any new show won’t be tied to Hawkins or the original characters at all! Honestly, I think that’s a great idea. It lets them expand the ‘Stranger Things’ world without messing with the ending we all loved, and opens the door for completely fresh stories and people. I’m much more excited about that – a real chance to explore something new!

The Duffer Brothers recently signed a new long-term contract with Paramount, leaving many wondering what their next project will be. They seem to want to finish ‘Stranger Things’ well before starting anything new.
