Netflix recently dropped a first look at their upcoming action thriller, The Rip, bringing together stars Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. The film is directed and written by Joe Carnahan, who co-created the story with Michael McGrale. It also boasts a strong supporting cast including Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins, Kyle Chandler, Néstor Carbonell, and Lina Esco. The Rip will be available to stream on Netflix starting January 16, 2026.
I’m totally hooked on this show about a group of Miami cops who find a huge pile of cash! It’s crazy how quickly things escalate – everyone starts getting suspicious, and you really start to wonder who’s on whose side. It’s a real test of loyalty, and honestly, it keeps me guessing who the good guys even are.

Ben Affleck stars as JD Byrne, and Matt Damon plays Dane Dumars. Lina Esco appears as Jackie Velez, completing the cast of what looks to be a thrilling and suspenseful movie.
The project was first announced in June 2024, with Affleck and Damon confirmed as the leads.
I’m really excited about this project! Not only are the two leads starring, but they’re also producing it through their own company, Artists Equity, which is awesome. And the news just keeps getting better – Netflix picked it up for distribution right after it was announced. The cast is shaping up to be incredible too, with Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Néstor Carbonell, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Kyle Chandler, Scott Adkins, and Lina Esco all joining the team. It’s a seriously impressive lineup!
Principal photography started in Los Angeles on October 3, 2024, and finished in early December. Additional filming took place in New Jersey, with Juanmi Azpiroz serving as the Director of Photography.
The first preview of the movie showed off its fast-paced action, suspenseful scenes, and impressive cast. People are already buzzing about it online and are eagerly awaiting its release on Netflix in early 2026.
Okay, I’m already hooked after seeing the teaser for The Rip! It looks like it’s going to be a really intense ride with a lot of crime, action, and suspense. The story seems to be all about who you can trust when things get tough, and how far people will go when greed and just trying to survive come into play. Plus, having Ben Affleck and Matt Damon involved? I’m expecting some seriously great acting and a lot of nail-biting moments!
