Fat Joe revisits G-Unit era, says his crew got into it with Young Buck

Fat Joe is known as both a long-time, respected rapper and a great storyteller. His podcast often features stories about the most dramatic times in hip hop history, and he usually reveals something unexpected. Recently, Joe shared a story about the height of his feud with G-Unit in the early 2000s.

For a while, the feud between Fat Joe and 50 Cent was the biggest story in hip-hop. It involved diss songs, public arguments, and caused problems throughout the music industry. Fat Joe claims the conflict went beyond music and interviews, leading to private, unreported confrontations.

Fat Joe recently shared a story on his podcast, ‘Joe and Jada’ (with Jadakiss), about a past encounter with Young Buck from G-Unit. The tale surprised even his co-hosts and highlighted the intense rivalry that existed in hip hop during that time.

Fat Joe looks back on G-Unit-Era tension

Fat Joe said the incident occurred in Chicago immediately after a show, when tensions were at their peak. He explained that things quickly got out of hand as he was leaving the stage. Someone in an upper section of the venue started yelling at him, but it was hard to identify them at first because it was very dark.

Shortly after, Joe claims Young Buck identified himself by shouting a racial slur and an expletive. Joe says he reacted by throwing a water bottle and yelling, “Come down here, psy!”

The situation quickly escalated, and Joe said police intervened, creating a barrier to prevent it from worsening. When Buck finally came downstairs, Joe stated the rapper pretended everything was normal and tried to make it seem like no big deal had occurred.

A Story that surprised even hip-hop insiders

Fat Joe says the conflict wasn’t completely resolved. He claims that when 50 Cent started moving around without enough security, he and his team intervened to handle things. Even though Joe believes this happened, Tony Yayo, who was also on the podcast, seemed shocked by the story.

The well-known feud between 50 Cent and Fat Joe included a diss track called “Piggy Bank” where 50 Cent criticized Joe’s career and achievements. This conflict allegedly led to Fat Joe losing valuable sponsorship deals with major brands like Air Jordan and Reebok.

Reflecting on the situation, Joe described it as just another memorable event from a turbulent period in rap music. It’s unclear if Young Buck will address it, but this incident further solidifies the legacy of a truly remarkable time in hip hop history.
