I was really fascinated to see what everyone was watching on Netflix during that third week of December! It seemed like a lot of people were getting into the holiday spirit with romantic movies, but big, popular films were a huge draw too. My friends and family were definitely using it to revisit some funny classics and check out the newest sci-fi releases. It was cool to see such a mix of movies and shows – everything from international hits to big American blockbusters. It really showed how diverse everyone’s tastes are!
‘Mean Girls’ (2004)

Cady Heron, a teenager who grew up homeschooled in Africa, enters the challenging world of American high school. She quickly gets involved with the popular but intimidating group known as the Plastics, and things get complicated when she develops feelings for Regina George’s ex-boyfriend. This beloved movie is a classic teen comedy that examines the complexities of female friendships and the negative effects of harmful social dynamics. Even years after its release, it continues to be a popular choice for viewers.
‘Christmas at the Chalet’ (2023)

To escape a lonely Christmas after her divorce, a woman takes a job at a fancy ski chalet. She gets into funny situations while taking care of the wealthy guests, and unexpectedly connects with a local man who reminds her how to enjoy the holidays. It’s a feel-good romantic film about starting over and finding happiness, making it a perfect, lighthearted watch for the winter season.
‘My Secret Santa’ (2025)

When a single mom loses her job, she comes up with a surprising plan to support her family: she disguises herself as an elderly man to get a job as the Santa Claus at a ski resort. Things get complicated when the new resort manager starts to suspect something isn’t right, and she unexpectedly falls for the owner’s son while trying to keep her secret. This heartwarming holiday rom-com stars Alexandra Breckenridge and Ryan Eggold, and tells a story about love and never giving up.
‘Murder in Monaco’ (2025)

As a critic, I have to say this new documentary really pulled me in. It dives deep into a shocking crime that rocked Monaco, using old footage and interviews to unravel a seriously complex case. What’s fascinating isn’t just what happened, but how wealth and privilege played a role in the investigation and the subsequent legal fight. The filmmakers do a great job of laying out all the evidence, step by step, leading to a verdict that, frankly, still feels pretty questionable. It’s a compelling look behind the glamorous facade of one of the world’s most exclusive places.
‘A Line of Fire’ (2025)

This gripping thriller centers on a team of highly skilled professionals racing against time to avert a major public safety crisis. As they work under immense pressure, the characters face tough ethical dilemmas and internal conflicts. The film delves into the psychological strain of working in high-stakes situations and how quickly things can change. Viewers are drawn to its exciting pace and believable depiction of dangerous scenarios.
‘KPop Demon Hunters’ (2025)

I’m completely captivated by this movie! It follows a K-pop group who aren’t just incredible performers – they’re secretly warriors fighting off demons! It’s amazing how they weave their music and incredible dance moves into these epic battles. Each member has their own special power, and together they’re protecting us from threats we can’t even see. What really sets it apart is how brilliantly it mixes the excitement of K-pop with a fantastical, supernatural world. It’s no surprise everyone’s talking about it – it’s a really unique and thrilling concept!
‘PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie’ (2023)

When a magical meteor lands in Adventure City, the PAW Patrol pups suddenly gain amazing superpowers! But trouble arrives when their old enemy, Mayor Humdinger, breaks out of jail and joins forces with a wacky scientist to steal those powers. Skye, the smallest pup, proves that even the littlest member of the team can be a hero. This colorful and exciting movie teaches kids about working together and believing in themselves, making it a favorite for families to enjoy during the holidays.
‘The Great Flood’ (2025)

This South Korean film is a thrilling disaster story about people trapped in an apartment building as it floods. It follows their desperate fight to survive as the water rises, highlighting the strength of the human spirit in the face of a catastrophic event. Starring Kim Da mi and Park Hae soo, the movie shows how ordinary people make difficult choices when disaster strikes. Director Kim Byung woo uses stunning visual effects to portray the sheer force of nature and focus on the characters’ resilience.
‘A Cowboy Christmas Romance’ (2023)

A skilled real estate agent goes back home to try and persuade an unyielding rancher to sell his family’s property. While spending the holidays on the ranch, she begins to appreciate the simple joys of country life and the importance of family traditions. What starts as a business disagreement blossoms into a romance as they discover shared beliefs. The movie beautifully captures the warmth of small-town holiday festivities and the stunning scenery of the American West, making it a beloved and comforting choice for those looking for a classic holiday story.
‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’ (2025)

The popular mystery series returns with Benoit Blanc tackling his trickiest case yet! This time, the famous detective finds himself in the middle of a complicated mystery filled with unusual suspects and secret intentions. Like the previous films, this one cleverly plays with typical mystery tropes while keeping you guessing with a fast-paced and surprising story. Featuring a fantastic cast, it continues the series’ clever humor and has quickly become one of the year’s most-watched streaming releases.
