Newly released death certificates shed more light on the deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner. According to PEOPLE magazine, both died quickly after being stabbed at their home in Los Angeles on December 14th.

Rob Reiner, known for directing the film When Harry Met Sally, and his wife were both found deceased at 3:45 p.m. and 3:46 p.m. respectively. Their remains have been cremated.

The records show both victims died from several stab wounds caused by another person with a knife. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner had already determined the deaths were homicides resulting from these injuries.

I was really saddened to hear about the passing of Carl and Michele Reiner. The news first broke on December 14th, and it’s a truly heartbreaking story. Their daughter, Romy, discovered her father at their home in Brentwood and immediately called for help. When authorities arrived, they tragically found Michele had also passed away. It’s a devastating loss, and my thoughts are with the family.

Later that day, their son, Nick Reiner, was arrested in Los Angeles near Exposition Park and connected to the deaths. On December 16th, he was officially charged with two counts of first-degree murder. The charges included that this was a multiple murder and that a knife was used as the deadly weapon.

Nick Reiner made his first court appearance on December 17th. He agreed to postpone his initial hearing, which is now set for January 7th. If found guilty, he could receive a sentence ranging from life in prison without the possibility of release to the death penalty.

Several news sources have revealed that Nick Reiner has previously received treatment for schizophrenia. According to PEOPLE magazine, he is currently under suicide watch, being held in isolation, and is required to wear a special gown designed to prevent self-harm.

Romy and her brother, Jake, shared a statement on December 17th expressing their grief over the loss of their parents. They said they were experiencing unbearable pain and described the deaths of Rob and Michele Reiner as a devastating loss that no one should have to endure. They emphasized that their parents were more than just family – they were their closest friends.

Tracy Reiner, Rob Reiner’s daughter from his marriage to Penny Marshall, shared her grief with NBC News. She said, “I was so lucky to be part of an amazing family,” and added, “I’m just in shock right now, I don’t know what to say.”

The investigation is ongoing, and recently released death certificates are helping to piece together what happened to the Reiners in their final moments. This is a deeply sad story that has deeply affected their family and the community.
