DCEU Movie’s Comeback Proves SnyderVerse Still Huge

Once again, the SnyderVerse is proven relevant.

Following its release in theaters, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is now gaining attention again as it’s available to stream on Netflix.

The DC movie starring Jason Momoa landed in the Top 10 of Nielsen’s latest streaming rankings for the week of November 24th to 30th, 2025. It reached number 8 overall, racking up an impressive 430 million minutes of viewing time.

SnyderVerse Keeps Surfacing

Even though critics didn’t like it and the movie wasn’t financially successful, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom unexpectedly shows how much people still appreciate Zack Snyder’s original ideas for the DC Universe.

The film serves as a conclusion to Zack Snyder’s vision, and its continued popularity on platforms like home video and now Netflix demonstrates that audiences still enjoy the style and characters he created.

The film features characters originally introduced in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and many of the actors from that time return, making it feel like a continuation of that story. It’s clear audiences are still interested in this world.

A Quiet Streaming Comeback

With 430 million minutes watched, Aquaman 2 performed better than other films released on HBO Max and Prime Video that same week. This demonstrates continued audience interest in previous DC Universe movies, even without a big marketing push or success in theaters.

As a film fan, I’ve been following this movie’s success closely, and it’s really holding strong! Warner Bros. Discovery recently shared that it’s still doing incredibly well with DVD and Blu-ray sales, which is fantastic news – it’s clearly connecting with audiences beyond the initial theatrical run and streaming.

Zack Snyder even recently posted new Aquaman images of Jason Momoa and Amber Heard as Mera.

Can James Gunn capitalize?

Out of all the actors from Zack Snyder’s Justice League, James Gunn has decided to bring back only Jason Momoa, who will be appearing as Lobo in the upcoming Supergirl movie.

The trailer only showed a brief look at Jason Momoa as Lobo, so it’s still unclear how James Gunn will portray the character in the film.

As a big DC fan, I’m really hoping James Gunn’s Lobo doesn’t end up like Peacemaker, Superman, or even Lex Luthor – where the humor kind of overshadowed the character. Those versions felt a bit too self-aware, you know? I’m really pulling for Lobo to be a truly intimidating, powerful character, more along the lines of how Aquaman was presented in Zack Snyder’s films. Basically, I want a Lobo that’s a total badass, not just a funny one.
