James Cameron’s Avatar: The Seed Bearer had a modest opening weekend at the box office. It will need to maintain strong ticket sales over time just to cover its costs, and making a profit will be a challenge.
Disney can take some comfort in the fact that Avatar: The Way of Water had a similar start – it didn’t open as strongly as expected, but still earned over $2.3 billion worldwide. Despite its success, I personally only know one person who actually saw it in a movie theater.

Can Fire and Ash Still Reach Break-Even?
The break-even number for Avatar: Fire and Ash is said to be a massive $1 billion.
Even factoring in a 20% difference, if Fire and Ash does as well as Way of the Water, it’s still projected to earn around $1.84 billion at the box office. That should be enough to succeed, as long as ticket sales don’t fall apart completely.
