Paul Jenkins Returns to The Sentry in New Marvel Comics Limited Series

This March, Paul Jenkins will revisit The Sentry, the popular Marvel character he helped create, in a new four-issue comic book series.

Marvel Comics revealed that the first issue of The Sentry, written by Paul Jenkins and illustrated by Christian Rosado, will be released on March 18th.

This is the first time Jenkins has consistently worked on a Marvel title in over ten years, and it reunites him with a character he famously used to explore the inner lives of superheroes in the early 2000s.

Paul Jenkins Reunites With His Creation

First appearing in 2000, The Sentry rapidly established himself as one of Marvel’s most intricate characters, combining immense power with significant psychological issues.

Jenkins coming back means the story will once again center on its main theme – the continuing conflict between the Sentry and his evil opposite, the Void.

Marvel says the new series features a dangerous story about the Void returning, and how it could destroy reality as we know it.

The battle pushes the Sentry to face dangers both from the universe and from organized crime, but more importantly, it forces him to deal with his own inner demons.

Guest Stars Include Spider-Man, Reed Richards, and Kingpin

The upcoming series will include appearances by popular Marvel heroes and villains like Reed Richards, Spider-Man, and Wilson Fisk.

Marvel says the story centers around incredibly difficult decisions and their painful results. The hero, Sentry, will be forced to decide if protecting the world is worth sacrificing his personal relationships.

Creative Team and Release Details

Sentry #1, the first of a four-part series, is written by Paul Jenkins with art by Christian Rosado. The cover art is by Alex Maleev, and variant covers are available by Francesco Mobili, C.F. Villa, and CAFU. It will be available for purchase on March 18th.

Jenkins described working on the project as a deeply meaningful return to a character he cares about, and expressed gratitude to Marvel’s leaders and editors for the chance to revisit it. He noted that the Sentry holds a special place in the hearts of many fans.

The Sentry’s Expanding Marvel Presence

This comic book is being released shortly after the character appeared in Marvel’s Thunderbolts movie earlier this year, and before he’s set to return in Avengers: Doomsday, which is planned for December 2026.

Marvel seems to be setting up the Sentry to be a more important character in future comics and movies, as he’s been getting more focus recently.
